How to have a Split only affect one Body, not the other duplicate bodies

Hi Designers,

I've imported a pre-made STEP file that contains many bodies, many of which are used multiple times in the file. When I split one of the bodies (a beam), the split affects all of the other same duplicate bodies. What is the easiest way to isolate this one beam and split it without modifying all of the other bodies.

Thanks much.

It would be very helpful to see the model to understand what is going on. I wager this is effecting them at a component level and not a body level but we need to see the file.

@e.arnoldGU8VG,

Right click on the component and select 'Make Independent'.

Thanks for replying. Make independent does not seem to be one of the options. Here they are:

You need to find the top component ending with :1 or :2 and select 'Make Independent'

Example, Like the one below

Thanks again Sujay. I'm still not seeing the command "make independent," even if I select "Edit in Place." Below is the component tree, with the part I'm trying to split at the bottom.

Ahh.. From the image i can see its not a step file

You have translated the step file in fusion format and inserted into a design as an External Reference.

Can you attach prior designs that you have already completed in Fusion 360.
You can File>Export your *.f3z file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply.

Ahh, it now makes sense. I had indeed made a separate, eternal component that was being referenced back. Thanks for the help. It's been awhile since I used Fusion 360. Thank you for your assistance.
