How to extrude an edge with multiple patterns?

How to extrude an edge with multiple patterns?

Hi

Just wondering if it's possible to extrude an edge that has multiple patterns all at the one time?

I've just received a Raspberry Pi 4 and downloaded and printed a case for it from Thingiverse

(it has  F360 document files and STEP files)

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3735600

However due to the heat sink (Armour case for the Pi4) from

https://www.littlebird.com.au/products/armour-case-with-dual-cooling-fan-for-raspberry-pi-4

the heat sink is 3mm too long to fit in the case and I need the case to be 7mm higher as well.

As you can see with the pictures there is multiple patterns on the edges... how can I extrude along the X and Z plane without distorting the pattern.. or how do I select the whole edge to extrude along the X plane without affecting the other edges?... (when I select the whole edge it will only extrude portions of the face/edge in all different directions).

If the question I'm asking can't be performed (i''ll designed a new case hopefully with patterns like the Thingiverse model)... if possible can you provide me tutourial links on how to do patterns (and extrusion on patterns) or knurlings similar to the case in pictures.

Any info greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Kind Regards

Rob

I just found the link for the Fusion 360 Design Academy:

... but I was hoping it would have tutorials like the following links...

( if anyone can add more links like below that would be  awesome).

It is not clear to me what you want to change.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file of your attempt to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Hi

Basically just to make the case 3.5mm longer and 7mm higher.

The *.f3d file and step files can be downloaded from the thingiverse link for the Pi case.

The problem I have is when selecting a face or edge that has patterns or knurlings on it.

Because the pattern or knurling may have e.g. numerous lines, triangles, bumps, cones, pyramid shapes on the face and with so many angles e.g. one face/edge with a 100 triangle peaks/dips on it may have over a thousand different faces...

so when selecting the face to extend it say by 3mm along the X axis the extruded face goes in all different directions

e.g. say i want to extrude the face westwards along the X axis in a straight line to make it 3mm longer... what happens is that it wants to extrude the face like in a North Westerly or South Westerly directions or both at the same time because of all the different angles on the face edge with the patterns/knurling.

It just dawned on me now that I could go back in the timeline where the first dimensions for the box were made and edit the features of the box/case and increase the length and height of it before the patterns/knurlings were applied to it.

If I can't do that, the alternative is to start a new design with the correct dimensions and then apply patterns etc.,.

But that's the problem as well, i don't want to start a new design, i just want to manipulate the dimensions a little to save time.

Any info greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Too many words, no geometry attached.

To save time (and words), Attach *.f3d file here.
