In solid works you can create an assembly by selecting assembly and then you pull in the parts and create joints or constraints?

You can do the same thing in Fusion 360, open and save a new file, and then insert components from the Data Panel.  You can also create components directly in the new file creating an assembly.  Create the component first, activate it to make sure all sketches and bodies fall under the component.  Make a new component while another component is active to create a sub-assembly.  It is pretty much the same.

Unlike SolidWorks - in Fusion 360 all files are part(component) and assembly.  You can build your assembly with all Components internally and/or have external reference Components.

My suggestion would be to go through one of the courses in the self-paced learning section that can be found from within Fusion 360.

I've used (and still use) SW since 1998 and there are enough differences between SolidWorks and Fusion 360 to make that a worthwhile effort.
