How to control component visibility in drawing views ?

Dear forum members,

I would like to make a drawing of my assembly with different views :

• a view of the assemly from this angle

• a view of the assembly from that angle

• a view of that component

• a view of these components together

That sort of thing. The drawing area apparently doesn't care about the visibility settings in the design area. The visibility settings in the drawing area are very slow and seem to only control the visibility of the first view.

Can that be done and if so, how ?

Take a look at the Screencast for the process of creating a drawing with the components and component views you specified.  I do not experience any problem with the speed of creating or using the drawing environment.  Perhaps I am not doing the operation you see issue with.  If so, please provide a Screencast of your own to explain your issue.

I tried adding a composition of 3 components to the drawing the way you described. The computer thought about 150 minutes about it, summed over the different steps, and finally added only a single component to the drawing. I was too impatient to try again, but noticed that it is also possible in the drawing dialog window to select the display only the visible components. That approach only required only about 30 minutes of thought from the computer and gave a satisfactory result.

My assembly is complicated. It has according to Fusion 360 3821 LeafOccurrences and 11146 bodies. That is after I have simplified it by 85 to 90%.

Still that doesn't justify the slowness of the drawing workspace.
