Hello,I was trying find out how to calculate the total weight of a part and/or assembly.  Where do I go to make a report on the total weight?  Is it automatically and run a report or do I have to check each property for each part?

thank you,

Hello @Anonymous,

welcome to Fusion 360 Community Forum! To display the total weight of a component or an assembly:

  1. Go to the browser tree in the left part of the user interface,
  2. Select and right-click a component or the whole assembly from the browser tree,
  3. Select Properties. The weight is displayed as Mass.

Depending on the distance units you choose, the weight will be displayed in g, kg, lbs, etc.

Please accept as solution if my post resolves your issue, or reply with additional details if the problem persists.

Best regards,

Hello Pawel,

I hope you don't mind me digging an old resolved post. I'm trying to calculate mass as well. Fusion does the sum for bodies but components stay appart. I did selected all bodies and components I need to weight. I calculate it myself, no big deal, but if there is a way (I've tried center of mass but it doesn't display the info)... thanks in advance

I'm not sure that i would call this resolved.  The OP asked to calculate the mass of a part of an assembly.  The top-reply correctly noted that one can find the mass of an entire assembly with the Properties option.  But how does one calculate the mass of a subset of parts.  For example, I have an assemble for a large rack-system and I would like the mass of the rack but want to exclude the boxes on the rack.  I have changed the visibility of the box-parts, but they are still calculated as part of the mass.  The OP asked, similarly, how to calculate the mass of a subset.  Is there an answer?

Hi,

You can display the mass of each subgroup by right-clicking on it.

Hello,

Thank your for the reply.

On another thread, I receive an answer: link.

Quoting here: "Create a selection set with those components. Select the selection set. Right-click and select "Properties" from the menu.   Unfortunately, we still cannot change the units in the properties UI, so you'll have to set the Document Settings to an appropriate unit. "

This answer worked well for me.

Thank you.
