how to best cut into part

hey guys i need help trying to extrude or cut into this part. i have this cylinder and i need to remove material but i do not know the best way or how to go about it. i will send some pics and the file that i am working on.

Without knowing the dimensions you're working to, it seems to me that it would be a series of sketches, Extrude, Revolve and a couple Fillet operations:

Yes that is exactly what i was trying to do. I knew what i wanted to do, just did not know how to do it. So can you walk me though it if i ask some questions?

what are the steps to get the sketch of the slope at the rear? I have everything measured out but i did not know how to draw on that plane and then remove that material. 

That seems to elude me. how to draw a sketch on a different plane such as a round tube.

If you don't mind i will be asking you a lot of questions.

just go along the timeline and check sketches and features with right click > EDIT
