Hole Tool, Hole Callout BUG.

If you use a non standard pitch for a threaded hole the hole dialog doesn't update the diameter to match the minor diameter. The hole size is for 1/2-12 UNS. This is a long time bug and in the model workspace doesn't really matter because the model will have the correct size. Also note the leaders in the dialog go across the input boxes. Reported this last week but the post sunk without an answer!

The problem is in the drawing workspace the wrong size is used in the call out. Below you can see the hole diameter in the parameter manager is the same for a 1/2" 12tpi and a 32tpi!

And in a 2d drawing the size in the callout for the 32tpi thread is wrong. Adding a diameter dimension on the left gives the correct minor diameter.

Hi @Phil.E  when you say both logged, is that the problem with the minor diameter (model and 2d drawings) and the problem with the leaders going across the inputs on the hole dialog?

Thanks Mark

Yes. Were there any more issues?

No, I just wasn't sure if you were logging the hole diameter reported on the hole dialog and the 2d drawing callout as 2 different problems.

Thanks Mark

  • The hole dialog and parameter table are both showing the incorrect values. This is the same problem seen in two places.
  • The drawing merely calls on this information to produce the hole note.

The core issue here is that the modeled hole is correctly sized, and the background parameters are not.

Hi @pjohnson5NWUH I noticed your comment and gave it a test.

The problem reported by @HughesTooling is indeed fixed. Can you please give some more details so I can reproduce the problem you are seeing? A model, or images, or explanation of what threaded hole sizes you are using would help tremendously.

Thanks!

Hey Phil,

I can’t seem to replicate the problem anymore but it was happening when I posted originally. I was creating a threaded hole with a 3/8-24 unf thread. When I would use the automatic hole note generator in drawing mode, the predrill callout was for a 3/8-16 unc thread. The 3D was correct but the callout was not. I also noticed that the greyed out predrill diameter was wrong in the hole creation/edit window in the design space. It stayed at 7.976mm regardless of if I changed the threads from fine to coarse.

Thanks for your response but like I said, all seems fine now.

Pete
