Help with a mesh object

Hi All - Can someone suggest how I can pattern a mesh object around a fusion drawn base?

See the attached file.  I drew a shape in fusion and placed a complex mesh on one surface.  It took some time to orient it onto one face and wondered if I could use a pattern feature to add to all 8 sides.  I know that I can make a copy of the mesh, but it won't work using the pattern feature.

If you import the Mesh into a component you can create a pattern if you set the type to Component.

yes, that is correct.  You cannot pattern mesh bodies.  What is your intention here?  Are you going to try to manufacture this?  Or, is it for purely visual purposes?  You will not be able to join the mesh to the rest of your design without converting it to a solid body.  You can certainly try to use the Mesh to BRep conversion, but I don't really recommend it, because the resulting BRep object is extremely heavy and hard to work with.  If all you are going to do is to pattern this, you should be OK converting it to a BRep.

Just a note on importing the mesh. Just testing and it looks like you can't drag the mesh into a component after import so you'll need to delete the mesh you have then create a component and with it active reimport and position the mesh then pattern the component.

If you are happy with a mesh here's a quick screencast showing how to import and position in a component then position the component onto another component using a joint. Finally pattern the component.

Thanks Mark,

Exactly what I need.

Once I have the mesh and fusion parts, I save as an STL file so I can 3D print it.
