Help fixing shifted origin

HI guys,

Newcommer to Fusion 360 here.

I am drawing up a project box, with two components a lid and a base for 3D printing, and have managed not too bad.

However, now that I am finished with it, I noticed that the origin for the lid (see screenshot) has moved to a new random position. It seems I deleted something along the line that left a sketch unreferenced.  Nothing I have tried so far has been able to fix this. Might have to start again....

Can somebody help me sort this out?

many thanks,

Ralph

Hard to help without the f3d file. Unless you moved the component using a joint then you must have dragged then used a capture position. You can try deleting it from the timeline, this might cause other problems you'll need to fix.

The yellow warning on the sketch needs fixing, what's the error if you right click it and review the warning?

You'll need to activate the top level component to find the capture position. I suggest you share the design though as the deletes in the timeline suggest you might not be using a good workflow.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Why are there Deletes in this design?

Why are there unconstrained sketches in this design?

Attach your file here and end all doubt.

Thanks for the replies.

Ok, so yes, my workflow is probably not good - I am still learning ......

I realised part way through that the method I had used to define the support posts for the pcb was not getting me what I wanted, so deleted some steps and did it another way. Clearly just got myself in a tangle.

I can see it might best to start from scratch here - but I felt it would be helpful to know how to fix the origin issue in case I come across it again.

f3d file attached.

I'll start with the easy one. The origin shift is caused by this capture position, I'd guess you dragged the part by mistake I when asked the revert or capture you picked capture positions? just delete will realign the origins.

As for the deletes, you are not taking advantage of the timeline. You just needed to delete the fillet feature from the timeline then edit the extrude and unselect the circles in the sketch or edit the sketch and delete the circles.

This is the timeline with the base component active.

Thanks again for the reply.

Had me confused for a bit because I could not find the same item in the timeline that you highlighted.

But have found that  'Hide all inactive featrures' was enabled.....

So have now been able to get rid of that.

This all came about because the sketch I had made of the pcb had been done on the XY plane, but the board of course actually sits up on the feet in the base, but I could not find a way to move it up; nothing seemed to work for that. So I scrubbed that sketch and did another one referenced to the top face of the feet - except I think I then deleted the original feet. Ah well, like I said...learning.

Thanks for the help.
