Having trouble with dwg file conversion

Having trouble with dwg file conversion

Hi there. I am having an issue opening a .dwg file in Fusion 360. I realize I can not open it in the cad view because it is a 2D drawing, but does anyone know how to simply give the images a "depth" so I can convert the dwg file to a step and open it in Fusion? I'm able to upload the image to my profile, but when I try to edit it, because it is only a viewer, I'm unable to extrude the images. I'm a little new to AutoCad as well, so if anyone can help out I'd appreciate it!

Thanks

Hi,

take a look here

DWG must be translated into the cloud during upload.
But you need to have a suitable license for this.

günther,

Thank you for the suggestion. I actually figured out I needed to covert the .dwg file to a .dxf file, and I was able to open it in the CAD software and give it a depth/tool path. Thanks again!!

Hi,

Upload (and translating) to the Datapanel depends on the license. It does not work with a personal licence.
If it is a sketch, open the DWG in another application (Autocad, QCAD...) and save it as DXF. The you can import it into a sketch via Insert DXF
