Having trouble exporting .STL model to a STEP file.

Hey all. I am no computer whiz but I have been doing a lot of Fusion 360 and I am loving it. I might just be stupid with this question.
I open an .STL model in Fusion. I click export, and export to a STEP file onto my thumbdrive's folder. I then open the new STEP file to fusion so I can edit it, and... Nothing.

I go to my file explore and see that my new step file is empty, it's only 4KB. Is there something I am doing wrong?

A STL is a mesh file and a STP or STEP file is an export of solids. Since the mesh file does not have any solid bodies, the export will be an empty file. Convert the mesh file to a B-Rep first.
