hard disk full due to accore console

Ok, I am running Fusion360 on a late 2015 iMac with all the upgrades.  About a month ago I got a message that the hard drive was full.  When I restarted the boot record was missing and testing determined the drive to be completely full of data which was suspected as an Apple Fusion drive corruption.  The drive was replaced with a 1TB solid state drive.

As of late this afternoon while working in Fusion360, the same message popped up and other applications started crashing.  Under the activity monitor, there is an "accore console" which is something Autodesk and is accounting for 99% CPU usage and 855.2GB of disk usage.

What is this and what's going on?

Hi @Nick

I'm sorry you are experiencing this issue.

I understand that accoreconsole file would make this issue.

would you mind renaming this file?

Rename AcCoreConsole.exe so that it will not function:

  1. Open the folder
    macOS:
    Macintosh HD > Users > *** > Library > Application Support > Autodesk > webdeploy > Production > [latest folder] > helper
  2. Right-click on AcCoreConsole.app and choose Rename.
  3. Add .old to the end of the file name (i.e., accoreconsole.app.old).

and could you change offline mode? here is how to do it

could you share the error message or diagnostic file??

please let me know whether it works

Many thanks,

Ahreum.

Ahreum,

Thanks for the reply.  Last night in an effort to not have a repeat of the previous situation, I closed the accoreconsole process in the activity monitor.  This seemed to instantly clear the disk.  I restarted the computer and everything seems ok.  Fusion was crashed again when I came in this morning and on restart showed an updated had happened.

I absolutely cannot find an accoreconsole file anywhere.  There is no Autodesk file under the application support.  I am including the diagnostic logs and some screen shots of while the issue was happening.

Thanks,

Nick

Not sure if this is the case here, but looking around in our support KB I found an old solution where Fusion was reported to utilize 100% of the CPU when there were outdated spacemouse drivers installed. There's another similar reported issue (that should be fixed with threads and drawing views).

Here's a few similar forum discussions:

Perhaps this is a related or similar issue?

I hope that helps!

Thanks,

Nathan,

I am not running nor have ever installed a space mouse on this machine.  I was working on several models with threads however so it's possible but since the hard drive was replaced I have work on quite a few with no issues at all.

What does the accore console do?

Hi @Nick,

As far I know, the file is related to drawing. This article would help

When opening Fusion 360, accoreconsole.app doesn’t show up on Activity Monitor on my mac. However, when opening a drawing file, the app executes.

Let’s remove suspicious things one by one. Smiley Embarassed

  1. Are you able to find accoreconsole.app file?

***/Nick/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/webdeploy/production/f1dd437300741c128e79954e78a8dab274900f18/Helper/accoreconsole.app

  1. Can you move to Trash (Just in case, don’t do empty Trash)
  2. Launch Fusion 360 ( don’t open the drawing file. The file won’t open) Does it working as usual?

On top of that I saw that 2 Accoreconsole.app executed on your Mac.  I would like to check the file location.

 Accore.jpg

After double click the file, go to "Open Files and Ports" and could you see the file location???

2accore.png

Are both the same location?

I look forward to your reply.

Many thanks,

Ahreum.

Ahreum,

I absolutely cannot find the accore console.  When I go to the application support there is not even an Autodesk folder.  It has to be there somewhere but I can't find it and through the finder the path does not match up with what is shown in the activity monitor.

When I run Fusion is runs fine with or without drawings open.  One accore console opens for every single drawing open and they are all located in the same path under the "open files and ports" tab.  I have been keeping an eye on those in the activity monitor yesterday and this morning and nothing unexpected or odd has gone on with those.

Hi @Nick

I'm so sorry that I should ask you it before. the library folder was hidden so you have to change the option.

This is How to access to hidden library folder on Mac

By the way, does your accoreconsole file look fine? Smiley Surprised hum...

I found it!  Renamed to .old and Fusion 360 runs normally the same as not having it renamed.

I do know the drawings are really quirky since the update a few days ago.

I don't believe so.  It just has not presented itself again but there is an intermittent bug related to the accore console.  I have experienced this twice now.
