GPU reset wiping workspace

Not applicable

I recently got a new Asus FX series laptop with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card. By all rights it should be able to run F360 just fine, granted not industry standard, but I don't need that. I have been having issues with my chipset and gpu drivers, which I have updated and that seems to have solved most of my trouble, but this is the one problem that persists: randomly while I'm working, the screen will flash completely white, which I'm assuming is the GPU resetting, then the display reloads, but the workspace remains blank. I can still interact with it with my mouse, hover-over info is still enabled, and the program doesn't seem to have any other issues, but no matter what I do I can't get the workspace to reappear.

I am pretty sure I have the most recent version of all relevant drivers/software, so I don't know what else to do.

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm sorry you are experiencing this issue. Smiley Sad

Could you share your log file with me to look into it? Here is how to collect it. Is there any event log error on your system?

I'm not sure whether this would work on your issue. can we try it?

Here is how to turn off "Hardware acceleration"

1. Clean uninstallation with the program

2. Reinstall and Do not open Fusion 360

3. Go to the location below  (How to show hidden folder Mac / Window)

C:\Users\****\AppData\Local\Autodesk\webdeploy\production\8556a3e1d81f6c5f0bca3f1440fbfa311d80a809 (Latest folder)\FusionDocStream\Autodesk\FusionDocAcad\PTXML\

4. Delete "CertificationDB.xml"  then, The hardware acceleration will not turn on

I look forward to your reply

Many thanks,

Ahreum.

I tried the second option first. I deleted the .xml file as instructed, but I don't know how to stop F360 from auto-starting after download. I don't know if that's the reason it didn't work, but the problem was still there. So, I did the first option. There were two log files in the folder specified by the instructions -- I'll attach them both.

I don't know if they'll be helpful, but I hope so.

Thanks for the response.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for sharing! I'm not sure what makes this issue so I asked it to the development team(FUS-38576). If I receive any updates, I will get back to you!

@Phil.E, Hi Phil, Could you take a look at this issue? Smiley Sad

Thank you for your understanding!

Many thanks,

Ahreum.

Hi @Anonymous,

May I know whether you are using Full-screen mode?  Is it ok if you are using the maximize Fusion (not full-screen)?

Please let me know

Many thanks,

The issue happens whether I'm in full screen mode or not.

I think it must be some sort of gpu driver incompatibility. When Fusion 360 is installed on my computer, I get random BSOD even if F360 isn't even open (the exact error code is Video_TDR_Failure of nvlddmkm.sys), but when I uninstall the program I have no issues.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for your replying.

Our development team is working on it and In the meantime, we are trying to find a workaround so I need your help.  Smiley Embarassed

1. Collect your graphics information

   A. Here is how to get graphics diagnostic information in Fusion 360. Please paste it here.

   B. System graphics information  (I'm not sure which graphics information wants to get by development team)

Diagnostic file on your pc: txt file

       1) Launch %windir%\system32\dxdiag.exe

       2) Select Save All Information

       3) Please reply with the resulting *.TXT file attached

2. Change a graphics driver option whatever you are not using another thing. Is it the same?

Preference.jpg

3. Change the default video card settings in Nvidia control panel. (the product is different, but we will just follow how to change a system setting)

How to change the setting

Thank you for your help and I look forward to your reply.

Many thanks,

Ahreum.

Hi @mitroi.alin

I'm sorry you are experiencing this issue.

Could you provide me the files I requested in a previous thread?

  1. Collect your graphics information

I have already reported it but, the development team requested more information. Could you collect the graphics information?

Have you changed the option I did suggest before? Is it the same?

  2. Change a graphics driver option

  3. Change the default video card settings

I look forward to your reply

Many thanks,

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm sorry to hear that.

Could you provide us few files to investigate?

1. Collect your graphics information

   A. Here is how to get graphics diagnostic information in Fusion 360. Please paste it here.

   B. System graphics information  (I'm not sure which graphics information wants to get by the development team)

       3) Please reply with the resulting *.TXT file attached

2. Fusion log file. Here is how to collect it

As you know, I have already reported it then, the development team requested detail information. However, I was unable to get anything from the customer. so it will appreciate if you can share the log file with us.

Also, I found some kind of a related issue and it seems that it was resolved. Have you updated Fusion 360 by up to date? it's supposed to be 2.0.4095.

I look forward to your reply

Many thanks,

Ahreum.

Hello! I am having the same issue as the others. I have uninstalled/installed F360 multiple times and have the latest version. I have done a factory reset on Windows. All other programs and games are using the GeForce card with no issues. This isolates the problem to F360 specifically. I NEED this program to work, so please let me know what else you need to solve this. Thank you!!

Hi! Me again.

I had to send my computer in for an RMA for unrelated issues. When I got it back I still had the same problem, so I followed Ahreum's instructions to change the Graphics Driver setting in the Preferences tab to DirectX 9 instead of Auto-Select and I don't want to jump the gun but that seems to have done the trick for me. I will post again if this proves to have been a hollow success. Best of luck to you all.

It seems the problem is not in Autocad Applications alone, this is related to 1050 Nvidia Graphics as All application  have white workspace say Sketchup 2018, Adobe Illustrator etc using 3D, if I disable graphic card in Device Manager all ok but no use of 3D then
