Gerber Export Crashing due to excellon or file name issue

Hi,

recently I've created a .CAM file (using fusion) in order to create consistent gerber files that shall solve the frequent compatibility issues with the manufacturer, which arises when attempting to use .brd files exported from fusion.

When going through the process again today, the CAM-processor crashes.
Why?

When you see the crash, do you get a crash error dialog? I couldn't find any reports from your email address, but those are a good place to start.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for reaching out.
The crash report has been generated by running into the same error, the report carries number 306371090.
Also I am not sure if I added the last attachment correctly - below there should be the .CAM available that caused the crash.

My apologies I missed your last post.

This crash has been debugged and we're hoping to release a fix when it's done being tested. If all tests pass the fix will be released soon. I can't be more specific than that.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your continued patience.

Hi @HAWE-MATTRO ,

Sorry about any inconvenience.

Before this issue is fixed, could you please try below workarounds? Hope it helps a little.

1. Please NOT 1) use the legacy CAM job which has excellon outputs in CAM job setting or 2) new excellon output or 3) Generate Excellon outputs based on PCB stackup.

2. Instead, you could use the default example CAM job and Auto Drill.

3. If the CAM job file is from Manufacture, and actually you need NOT the Excellon type Drills, but Auto Drills are OK for your board, you could just edit the CAM job file with any text editor, e.g. notepad in Windows, and change the drill type from excellon to autodrills, then load the modified cam job to generate gerber and drills.

Hope it helps a little.

I will keep you be posted once the fix is ready for you.

Regards,

Helen

I am mostly looking at case 3 here, the example .CAM settings did not work for the manufacturer. For the current order it seems to be fine, but I did not have feedback form the production yet, so maybe I still need to try that workaround. Thank you for providing that in the meantime, much appreciated.
With a bit of luck this is fixed officially before I order the next PCB ;)...
