Gcode not posting

I'm not sure if this is a windows issue or not. I purchased a brand new surfacebook 2 15" so I can design on the go. Fusion sometimes works and then sometimes doesn't. I have to go into my my appdata and messing around with the executable.

The kicker is.. (and not just this machine). When I write gcode it does not save the file. I tried on a usb, desktop, another drive.  NO GO! Help!

Thanks in Advance.

Hi @Anonymous,

I'm sorry to hear you're not able to save your GCode! Can you please make a screencast showing what happens when you try to save it?

The weird thing is, this is happening on two other machines. I'm not sure what gives. I read that Windows 10 (I believe creators edition) and some issues with WIndows Defender interfere with Fusion 360. I disabled  Windows Defender but the problem still persists.

I do have one computer that I will give away to my daughter and it seems to post fine there. I still have a week to return this Surface Book 2.. lol.

Hmm, so no error or anything else out of the ordinary. Fusion 360 isn't freezing after you try this, right?

Could you please post your diagnostic log files? You can get those as a zip file by going to Help (question mark) in the upper right corner of Fusion and selecting Diagnostic Log Files. Before you do this though, please close out of Fusion 360, and when you reopen it just open one file with already-created toolpaths you can post. Try posting those and then collect the diagnostic log files-- this will create a log file of that session with just the information about the post processing attempt.

Thank you!

Thanks for the logs!

I wasn't able to find anything in there that would indicate a problem--it looks pretty much identical to my log from a successful post. Do you have any programs that are on the computers where posting doesn't work but are absent on your daughter's (future) computer? Or do they use different antivirus software?

Also, just to double check-- does this happen with other post processors, and does uninstalling with the uninstaller tool then running the installer as Administrator allow you to save your GCode?

I had the same problem.

Just installed Brackets and set it as External editor in Fusion 360 under Preferences->General->Manufacture.

Now posting works as before.
