Fusion won't run even after fresh install

Hi All,

I've been running fusion on the same laptop for over 18 months, suddenly it stops working. Tried the repair, but no sucess. The repair crashes halfway through and then fusion says various qt dll's are missing.

Uninstalled fusion, restart and ran fresh install 3 times.

Updated windows, updated graphics drivers, but still no success.

When fusion runs, it goes to the login screen and then back to app and then the crash screen appears.

I'm lost as to what to do next.

Can anyone help please,

Adam.

Does it look like this when it gets stuck? If so, I have the exact same issue, and came here to ask for help. I normally run it on my laptop with no issues, but am stuck at home with Covid so resorting to work from home from my Desktop, as my laptop is at work.

It always used to run fine on here, but now just gets stuck here. Same as you I have reinstalled, and reinstalled graphics drivers too.

If it helps I'm running a Ryzen 9 3900X, 2080 Super on Windows 11 Pro.

@mailD9V7V @Here is what you can do.

1. Make sure Fusion is not running in task manager

2. Goto add/remove programs - select Autodesk Fusion- Modify

This will launch Fusion service utility
3. Uninstall the application
3. Then go into C:\Users\(username)\Appdata\Local\
4. Delete the Autodesk folder
5. Now install Fusion again

see if that helps.

@BWENGUK would like your log files.

use the same steps to get to service utility and run the father system info. This will generate two log files. Attach the Fusion logs zip file here.

@RajkumarIlanchelian please see attached.

When I reinstalled I hadn't deleted the files within the AppData folder, so I'll uninstall and re-install again now to see if that fixes it.

@RajkumarIlanchelian For what it's worth, I have now reinstalled including removing the Autodesk folder, and it still doesn't work. Same as before, crashes after login with the same view as my screenshot above.

Hi All,

Thanks for the advice. Managed to contact autodesk support and then remote logged in. Basically deleted all remnants of fusion and reinstalled. Took some out of the temp files, appdata folder and some registry entries. Works now.

@mailD9V7V Glad to know that you are unblocked now.

@BWENGUK I am checking the logs for information but this certainly looks like either a graphics or a network that might be causing this.

Couple of things to try while we look at the logs:

1. I am sure this was already tried but sometimes a simple restart for a fresh install could help.
2. If you have another network connection like say a hotspot, can you connect using that to see if the launch is successful?
3. We have also found a simple restart to the wireless router also has helped previously

4. You mentioned that you reinstalled the graphics driver. Did you uninstall the driver, go to the official site and download the new driver?

@RajkumarIlanchelian thank you for looking at this

In reply to the questions;

1. Yes, tried restarting, including after reinstalls.

2. Sadly not something I can try. I have no mobile signal here at home, so can't hotspot off my phone.

3. Just tried this, and it didn't help.

4. Yes, full reinstall of the driver. Downloaded 546.33 from Nvidia's website, which I believe is the latest.

@BWENGUK So with those likely not a network issue. Here are a few other things while I continue to see if I can find anything in the logs.

1. Do you have multiple monitors? If so disconnect one and see if that helps.
2. Likewise any 3D mouse or other accessories connected to the machine ?

@RajkumarIlanchelian

It seems multiple monitors is what is causing the issue! I unplugged my second and third displays and it opened fine first time. Previously when I was opening Fusion, it was opening on monitor 2. With 2 and 3 unplugged, it obviously can only open on monitor 1 and opened fine.

I've just had a play about. If I reconnect all 3 monitors, it will still open normally if it was closed whilst still on monitor 1, so it reopens there. If I drag it over to monitor 2 or 3, then close it, it will go back to crashing when opening again.

If I am very quick and use Win+Shift+Arrow I can quickly move it to my middle monitor before it crashes and then it'll open.

This certainly seems to solve my issue, but is still obviously a bug. Happy to do any tests if it's useful for you.

@BWENGUK Thank you for checking this out and glad we got to the bottom of the problem. We will need some help to identify what is exactly causing this multi monitor problem in your set up.

1. Are all three monitors the same resolution?
2. Do you run Fusion in full screen mode? If not can you run in full screen mode and do the same workflow?

My assumption is that this likely has to do with some resolution and when it is closed on Monitor 2, it is trying to open it on Monitor 1 and something is going wrong there. just a guess at this time but more details could help narrow down what could have happened.

@RajkumarIlanchelian it crashes whether it's opening in full screen, or if it is windowed to a smaller size on monitors 2 and 3.

If opening on monitor 1 it opens fine both ways.

My middle monitor, which is my primary (1) is 1440p, and my sides (2&3) are both 1080p.

When it tries to open on monitor 2&3 it is correctly at 1080p I belive.

@BWENGUK Thank you for this information. We will look at what could be happening here internally and see what is a cause for this problem. Thank you once again!

@BWENGUK Would you be able to help with some more information? Considering that you have a setup that you can consistently reproduce this,, if you can do the below for us that would be super helpful.

this involves install the Microsoft Process explorer - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/process-explorer

0. Run process explorer
1. Get Fusion to lock up in this situation
2. Go to Process explorer
3. Select Fusion - create dump- create mini dump

This will generate a rather large file. Please zip up this file and if you can create a simple folder in your Fusion project and give us access to only that folder, I can pull down the zip file or if there are other ways you can share that zip file that would be super helpful for our engineering team to fully analyze what could be happening here.

We understand if this is a lot to do here and you do not have the time to collect this and that is completely fine but if you do have the time, we would certainly appreciate the data. Thank you in advance!

@BWENGUK

Our engineering team was able to quickly look into this and found out where the hang is happening. It is the Nahimic Audio dlls that are causing these issues. Can you let us know if any of these solutions works for you?

this is in fact causing a problem here are some potential ways to solve it:

  1. Run services.msc and stop the Nahimic service, and set it to manual start.
  2. Disable the onboard audio through the BIOS settings.
  3. Update or uninstall the Manufacturer's audio drivers, not sure if this will say Nahimic.

Here is a web article that seems to describe a similar issue:
