Fusion unable to figure out where my mouse pointer is. Any way to fix this?

When my pointer is miles away from the edge I want to select the edge gets highlighted and I'm able to select it:

When it's directly over the edge the edge is not highlighted and I'd select a face:

Even holding the mouse button down directly over the edge to reveal the dropdown menu that shows all possible selections one could possibly want to select the edge is not listed:

I tend to design mostly in orthographic mode. That prevents these oddities that I also see in other CAD applications (SolidWorks, ZW3D).

I'm no expert but I've been using 3D CAD programs almost daily for ~15 years. Solidworks, Inventor, 3D STUDIO Max, ZBrush to name a few. Mostly on PC obviously but on Mac as well. Never have I ever experienced anything even remotely close to the abuse I experience every single time I need to select anything in Fusion. 

 

That edge is a FULL mouse cursor away from my mouse pointer...
