Fusion lag, errors and other nuisances

Anyone else notice that Fusion is just short of absolute garbage lately?  All files, all actions, doesn't matter.  Slow to execute even simple operations within any file, slow to save, open or otherwise manage files.

Been a subscriber for years, but the constant updates, extension restriction changes, etc. and now the horrible performance issues are too much.  If it weren't for the other elephant in the room of not being able to select and export batches of files at one time, I'd have been a former subscriber already.

Fusion:  Fix it. Quick.  Patience is running very thin.

@bdphillippi What OS are you on and what version of Fusion are you on? We have not heard of what you mentioned as a common problem for all and hence likely something on how Fusion reacts to the hardware/software/graphics driver combination.

If you take away network and run Fusion in offline, do you continue to see the performance impact?

windows 10, latest fusion build 2.0.21538 x86_64.  haven't run it offline.  all hardware kept up to date on drivers.  it's been similar issues on multiple pc's; varying hardware specs (some very high performance).  files with at least several components worse than simpler models.  no specific identifiable pattern other than chronic lag issues with executing various commands.  very low confidence in design activities on this platform; especially after these issues have now seemed to trashed one of my recent files to where it just shows file corrupt and unrecoverable now.

@LishuangLu Lisa, can we please work with @bdphillippi to understand what could be causing the performance issues?

@bdphillippi For the file that you cannot open any longer, would it be possible to invite a few Autodesk engineers in to that project for us to look? If that is an option can you email me direct raj.kumar.ilanchelian@autodesk.com and I can send you the names of the engineers?

Also as part of your subscription, you have access to Autodesk support. Have to logged any of these issue with our support team? If so is there a case number you can share?

@bdphillippi In the current version of Fusion if you go into Help - support and diagnostics - you will see a "report performance issue". Can you select that and run per what the tool asks you to please?

I haven't had time to explore support assistance other than to have other users at client locations see if problems existed with files on their fusion workstations - which they did.  a simple surface offset stalled a high end pc for nearly 5 minutes.

I can't share files or contents for many of these with Fusion support staff.  I'll have to dig around for an unrestricted file that demonstrates similar issues.

I've had problems similar over the years, but they've always resolved in tolerable timeframes.  This time seems more persistent than in the past.

I can report a similar issue with the latest update. Fusion is unusably laggy. I'm on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB with the latest windows updates on a RTX 3090 with studio driver 565.90. It was working fine this morning before the fusion update.

@bdphillippi If you can still run the "report performance issue" that would be great.

@billupsrothenbergfusion Can you please do the same?

Report submitted - 104244.  Software barely functional during data collection.  Got an alert in Fusion for performance issue as well.  I have essentially all visual effects turned off and it shows graphics on this pc struggling.  Try not to get too focused on that because as I've mentioned before, the problem exists on much higher performance desktops with these files as well.

I am currently ding the same.

Fusion even freezes in the sketch environment.

I've been down for two days, unable to finish a part. I will get a report # soon.

I did not receive a report number so I don't even know if that worked after the full 10 minutes and then upload time. I've been trying to generate a tool path that worked a few days ago.  Fusion would not do it yesterday so I updated this morning and am trying again.  18 minutes so far and nothing.  My shop is at a standstill.

@cjjames1800 this does sound urgent. Could you share your files here?
File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply

If you can't share the file publicly, my email is open: seth DOT madore AT autodesk DOT com

(please reference this thread so I understand the context)

Thank you for reporting!

For the general slowness related with simple operations within any file, slow to save, open or otherwise manage files, we have tracked as a ticket FUS-192045 internally, which we will investigate based on the performance report you have submitted.

We will let you know once there's something being found from our end. Please stay tuned.

Thanks for your support!

Regards,

Lisa

Sorry, I didn't see this message. Yes, file has been received and I've returned it back to you with some feedback (and a working toolpath)

My copy, on current Win 11 Pro, is stuck less than mid-way through initialization. Task manager shows 0% CPU, so it's just dead. I have had more of this type of behavior in the last 2 or 3 months than during the first 3 or 4 years. I killed it with task manager twice; on restarting it went to the same position in the progress bar. After doing this a few times, the "Fusion Service Utility" popped up. I "reset fusion" and "launched fusion", it complained about fusion being open. Rinse and repeat.

"Repair Fusion"... "fusion is already running" (no it's not, that's why I'm here). Repair got to 100%, then initialize popped up at the same stopping point.

I reported some time ago that Fusion basically freezes when I try to open old files, from before the mandatory moving of things to a hub or cloud or whatever.

It's time to put some experts on the problems!

@billupsrothenbergfusion @bdphillippi can you please help check the Graphics Driver setting from Fusion->Preferences->General? And also extract the Graphics Diagnostics from Help->Support and Diagnostics->Graphics Diagnostic? We want to double check whether the graphics driver has been unintentionally changed into OpenGL

Thanks,

Lisa

@johnAMKDR , thank you for your feedback!

Could you report the freeze though Help->Report and Diagnostics->Report Performance Issue next time when you experience the problem?

Thanks,

Lisa

It never cleared up, so I rebooted the PC. (It did some kind of update during the process).

Fusion started partway and displayed the Service Utility Menu. I clicked "Gather System Info" and it show the initialization screen, with <1/2 progress, then started "normally".

I tried Report Performance Issue and it ran normally, even when I looked for old files. I had no particular scheme for choosing where to save the designs as I pretty much work from one location.

So, my main problem is frequent failure to start and since it won't start, it seems troubleshooting tools aren't available.
