Fusion keeps freezing when I try to save.

Hello, I'm a graduate student and have the education version of Fusion 360. I've used it for years since undergrad and now again in graduate school at Georgia Tech. Suddenly on Monday or so, the program would start buffering when I saved a design and then wouldn't stop, forcing me to quit the program and start again. It often does not save it before closing and I cannot seem to make it work properly. It saved maybe once or twice since the issue started but not long after, it started buffering.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times. I've tried clearing the cache, altering the settings for the graphics processing and made sure my Macbook Pro has enough space available to operate. The version is up to date with the most recent update.

I have never had issues with this program and nothing has changed on my end since the problems began. I desperately need this software for school and for my thesis so any suggestions are so appreciated! Thank you!!

@courtney.melcher Thank you for the logs. Did you generate this log right after an uninstall/reinstall? Are you experiencing the save issue right now? I am not seeing any evidence of it in the logs and wondering if you generated the log right after when you are experiencing the save issues.

Also one quick test would be to restart your router as some of the symptoms seems to point to a possible network issue.

Is you can generate log files again after you encounter the save/freeze problem I think that would help.

@courtney.melcher The new logs shows a lot of upload failures.

1. When you go to the Job status (the clock icon at the top right corner - View Job status, are there any files that are pending uploading the queue?

2. If there are files in there that are not yet uploaded to the cloud, can you try to reset your router and see if that helps? You can also try to connect to say a hotspot if you have one and see if that helps?

3. The file that you are not able to save, does it have any special characters in the file name? Canyon export that file and share it with us if possible?

4. If you cannot share the file would it be possible for you to invite me into your project? You can use the email ID raj.kumar.ilanchelian@autodesk.com

trying to narrow it down to if this is a network issue or not.

I checked and there were no jobs pending. I connected to a hotspot and that didn't change anything either. One of the times when I checked the job status queue it stopped responding as well. I've attached the diagnostic files again in case something else showed up.

Also, I'm not having issues with a particular file, it's happening before I'm even able to name new designs.

@courtney.melcher I see a lot of ""Invalid characters in file name."}" in the logs.

1. Can you please Close Fusion 360
2. Launch it again
3. Create a new project - Test
4. Create a new simple design - Name it Design test
5. Save it

Does save work?

If in the above workflow save does not work, please collect logs again. This will show us exactly what happened in that session.

Once you collect the logs, please go to launchpad, run the Fusion service utility, run RESET Fusion 360 and try a new document/save workflow again.

Just trying to figure out if this is machine or network or a firewall or an anti-virus issue etc.

Hi Rajkumar,

I hadn't reset my router yet because I thought connecting to a hotspot would be a similar approach but I went ahead and did that. I was able to save the file as you instructed which was an improvement but I'm hesitant because it still seems to have issues. When I tried to close it after, it wouldn't close because it said it had open jobs. When I looked in the job status though, there wasn't anything showing up so I don't know what job it would've been. Then I waited a little longer and closed it but it didn't show open jobs and just froze again until I forced it to quit.

@courtney.melcher I am positive the reset is going to help here. There seems to be some files on your local folder that seems to be causing this issue (atleast per the logs) and the reset should help. If reset does not help, I will need logs one more time as this will expose the next level of the issue.

I did the reset and I think it did help! The only thing is that it still seems to get caught up with something when I try to close after saving. I waited until I didn't get a window saying there were jobs pending and then tried closing again and it stopped responding. Is there any solution for this? I attached the log files again.

@courtney.melcher Logs are certainly looking better. Lets do one ore thing.

1. (Close Fusion 360)Go to Finder - Go - click on "Options" button and it will show the Library option click on library
2. Go to application Support

3. Autodesk
4. Delete folder Webservices and folder AutoDesk Fusion 360
5. Clean them out of the trash can
6. Launch Fusion now

Is save back to normal?

I think that worked! It lagged a little bit but not as long and closed on it's own. Would I need those folders I deleted for any particular reason?

Thank you so much!!

@courtney.melcher @You do not need those folders. It will recreate once you use Fusion again. However, I am still not sure if this won’t come back since some file that you are using is slowly causing this lag. Will keep an eye on this thread. Hopefully this does not get stuck again.
