Fusion jumps to front screen

I have never had this issue before but for the past few weeks, the application keeps jumping to the front. I've tried restarting the app and my computer, deleting user cache, etc but the app keeps jumping to front of screen. It's becoming very annoying and it seems to be getting worse. I have the latest Mac OS on iMac. Why does this keep happening and how can I fix it??

Quick update: a fix for the Browser staying visible when Fusion is minimized has been validated - we hope to provide you some relief here in a future update.

Fusion's focus-grab is still under investigation, but initial findings suggest it might be related to incoming toasts from the notification center (or at least, this is one event that reproduces the behavior).

I am also facing the same issue. Quite frustrating. I closed Fusion 360 and open it only when I need it. This is quite inconvenient because it takes a few minutes for Fusion to get up and running . My Mac OS is Ver. 11.4. My Fusion 360 (paid license) version is 2.0.10356. Appreciate if Autodesk does something about this.

We've identified a cause of the mid-session focus issues, and are validating a potential fix. I do not yet have a timeline as to when this fix might be released.

Is this all just one bug or there are several bugs to fix here? Which one(s) are you still trying to figure out?

@shaische222 - one bug (application focus); I say a cause because not all the steps to reproduce the bug on the forums could be replicated in-house by our team. I think the fix in testing will address all the reported scenarios, but without testing those cases myself, I cannot make that claim with 100% confidence.

Re: 2018 - Broadly speaking, if a bug happened more than a year ago and was fixed, it is probably unrelated to a current bug of similar behavior, if for no other reason than the application's framework as well as the operating systems have changed so much in that time. Accordingly, I recommend users make new posts/reports if search doesn't turn up anything related in the last year.

@lance.carocci I am experiencing the same behaviour:

Switching from fusion to e.g OSX mail, safari or calendar, the fusion browser stays a float and is active.

Switching between mail, safari and calendar triggers the same behaviour on the first time the program is activated after fusion had been left in the background. Usually after this fusion keeps quiet.

But: minimising and maximising any other application window has the same effect constantly. Fusion pops into the foreground with the browser menu activated.

This is literally stealing my focus and is tremendously disturbing to my workflow.

A workaround that fixes this issue is to close the browser window in fusion 360:

This way fusion 360 does stay in the background solid.

I happen to tab switch back and forth between applications a lot during CAD work. Researching materials, availability, dimensions, looking up specs in safari, emails, photos, you get the picture. This bug is a serious issue to anyone who professionally works with Autodesk fusion 360 on a Mac. And for a paid application it is just downright unacceptable and should be given top level priority.

Reproduced on different iMacs with mac OS Big Sur (all iterations thus far).

Main specs:

iMac Pro (2017)

OSX 11.4

Thanks @HDRI00 ! This seems like a good temporary solution. Even though it's still annoying when you have multiple files open and have to remember to close all the browsers before opening another program. Really hope the Autodesk team would fix this asap. It's unfair to paying users.

This did not stop it in my case. Even when Fusion is minimized, part of its UI still pops up when switching apps. It's not every time you switch and I have not been able to find a specific sequence that makes it repeatable (what a nightmare bug to chase) but it does occur very frequently. Even if random (as far as I can tell).

Actually, there is a way to reproduce it 100% of the time. Just launch any application. Open the finder and launch anything. As the application is opening, the focus changes to Fusion. When minimized, you get what you see above. Otherwise, the entire (Fusion) application comes to the foreground.

@gus.grubba did you just minimise fusion 360 (move it to the dock) or did you, as i pointed out in the screenshot, close the browser menu of fusion 360 (the menu that holds the components, bodies, etc..)?

No and, no. I had minimized the left panel (Data Panel) instead of the browser menu. I had missed that part. With the browser minimized as you suggested, it indeed "fixes" the issue.

Also happening here for the past weeks. Only part of the UI moves to the front and sometimes it insists on doing it even by unfocusing it.

Same problem here.

If this can help the team, Fusion will pop up front when I unlock my iPhone as well. No idea how can those two things be linked. Closing the fusion pop-up menu does solve the problem.

Thanks for working on a solution.

Also happening repeatedly and quite frustrating. This ends up with less time having Fusion open since I'll quit it to prevent this from happening.

One independent way to repro is to quit Fusion and then launch it again. While Fusion is launching switch (CMD+Tab) to any other app. Fusion will repeatedly become the foreground app again while it's launching.

I don't consider this "solved" as the tag suggests.  I obviously don't remember to reduce the browser every time I go to tab to another window, nor should I have to.  I pay a good amount of money for this product and it's clearly flawed and severely hurting my productivity.

Can someone please resolve this for us?
