Fusion hangs instantly from body "Save as Mesh"

Fusion hangs instantly when I'm in the browser and right-click on a body and click on "Save as Mesh".

No error nothing. The system tries to respond but never comes back to normal operation. Clean removal and reinstallation of Fusion do not solve the problem.

My workaround for this moment is to use FILE>EXPORT. But you need only the object that you want to export visible. Very annoying way to work.

can you share your design here?  If the model is large or complex, generating the triangles for a mesh can take a long time, it is possible that Fusion will eventually complete the operation.

I did a windows update 10 twice, everything is updated.

I restarted the PC

I opened Fusion

I made a simple cube

I click on body > save as mesh

Fusion hangs!

I'm sorry the problem has nothing to do with a complex design.

kind regards,

Leon.

@leonknook

Can you try again 'Save as Mesh' by running Fusion 360 Application with "Run As Admin"?

I have executed the file FusionLauncher.exe as an administrator, but unfortunately, nothing changed, fusion hangs instantly.

Try below options, if it wont work then capture a screencast video and attach it to the next reply

  • Clear the Location/Select a new location, where you are trying to Save the mesh
  • Uninstall 'Chitubox', if you have installed it on your computer

A special thing about Save as Mesh is that it is looking for installed 3D Print utilities in the registry when it starts. It is checking for MakerBot, RepetierHost, Cura and Netfabb. Do you have one of them installed?

This looks somewhat like a very old bug in Fusion where it hangs if the last directory you save to is no longer available. Do you get a similar hang with Insert Mesh?

Take a look at this post for a fix.

I have found NMachineSpecificOptions.xml but there is a latest directory in there that still exists end is valid.
So this is not the problem.
I have deleted the line but fusion still hangs.

@leonknook  Watched your video again and I see you're not even getting as far as the dialog below so yes does look like a different problem!

When you say in your first post that you did a clean uninstall, did you use the clean uninstall tool?

I have removed Cura, Netfab, and Repetier Host.

Restarted the PC

Then I use the clean install tool for Fusion.

After that  I did a new install of fusion, the problem still exists, Fusion Hangs (from body to save as mesh).

this is a really serious problem

Fresh start Fusion.

I go to "Utilities"

Then I click on "Make"

Then I click on "3D print" Fusion Hangs!

Seems like there is a problem.

I have no Cura, no Repetier no Net fabb installed.

Did Save As Mesh/3D Print work for you in the past or did it never work?

Yes, it worked without any problems in the past.

From a body save to mesh.

I wonder if there aren't references somewhere in a file to 3D printer slicers that I could delete.

The windows error logs shows that Fusion comes in an endless loop.
