Fusion freeze for long time with "complex" sketch

Hello,

I'm writing here because I'd like to report an issue with a sketch in Fusion 360.

I'm drawing a simple rectangular pattern of squares: squares of 21 mm x 21 mm with a space of 1 mm between them.

50 squares in the X direction and 100 squares in the Y direction.

Using the rectangular pattern function takes some tens of seconds, and it's ok.

But, if now I want to add a simple line to the sketch (length 1 mm, outside the pattern of squares), Fusion freeze for a long time (from 5 to 10 minutes) during which the CPU is running and the RAM usage is very high (7 GB). In the end, the line is added to the sketch, and for the next line is the same...

It sounds strange that this behaviour could be normal.

Thank you

Hi,

1. Please share the file.

File > export > save as f3d on local device  > attach it to the next post.

2. Basically you should not use patterns in sketch mode but with features/faces/bodies... .

I have attached an example.

In this example, after drawing the pattern, I tried to draw a 1 mm line at (0,0) and after 15 minutes with a maximum memory usage of about 13 GB, I stopped fusion...

I was trying this way to draw a wire mesh... I tried to use the rectangular pattern on the extruding process to drill a sheet but is very slow.

Could you suggest a simple way to draw the wire mesh?

But It is strange this behavior with the sketch...

Thanks

1. Cosmetic Texture Appearance

2. Expected and logical behavior considering geometry constraints solving.
