Fusion flips screen automaticly upside down when starting sketch

Hello guys,

Everytime a start a sketch, the sketch planes starts upside down.

1. I want to sketch on a face of a bodie (current view is front).

2. I click on create sketch, select face of bodie

3. The model flips over 180 degrees (current view is front upside down)

Why, tell me, why?

Probably because you have "Auto Look at Sketch" enabled in the preferences.

Thanks for your reply.

I've already found this option.

But it's not quite what I'm looking for.

Imagine:

1. I've made a solid bodie in the shape of a house.

2. Front view, is the front of the house.

3. I want to sketch a door on the front of the house.

4. Fusion 360 starts a sketch, but also flips the entire house upside down.

I want Fusion to auto look, but don't flip the house.

Hope this makes my question clear.

Hope to hear from you!

Thanks in advance!

That behavior I don't see on my side.

Is this with a specific model or do all of your models exhibit the same behavior ?

Can you share a model (export as .f3d and attach) that shows this behavior and maybe create a screencast

I think this has to do with the odd orientation of your coordinate system. The orientations available in Fusion 360's preferences are Y-up which is oddly enough the default and the other one is Z-up which is preferred for anyone doing CAM work, because Z-up is the default in most CAM systems.

However in your design it appears you changed the view defaults, so when you click home the trinangulated part of your design faces up.

However, when the "look at" or "auto look at " functions are used Fusion 360 will try to orient the sketch toward the built in defaults disregarding the changed settings.

Sounds like a bug to me.

Auto-look at sketch does not take into account changes to the "UCS"/"ViewCube".

I changed the default "Front", "Top", and "Home" as necessary for a model and now every sketch flips upside down.

I doubt this is the designed behavior, therefore it is a bug.

This is still a prevalent bug.

When I sketch on the TOP of my object, it will sketch with TOP right-side up.

When I select the bottom of my model to sketch on a bottom surface, it always rotates it upside down, so it says BOTTOM upside down.

a little annoying, tbh.

This struggle is real.  Except for me Fusion just seems to flip to whatever orientation I don't want it to be.  If I start a sketch on the top of the part with it already oriented to that plane it flips.  I like the front in front and the back facing me, maybe this is just a default I can't change.

Ditto.  Very annoying.

Indeed. One of many extremely annoying things with Fusion 360.

Wow.. I've always wondered why my parts needed to be rotated before printing etc... I've changed to Z up. You're a lifesaver for a newbie!
