Fusion exports invalid 3MF file

Hi,

Fusion 360 exported the attached 3MF file that has an invalid empty entry. I don't think this is allowed by the 3MF format. Because of this the file fails to process in PrusaSlicer.

Thanks. I'm not sure what might be happening here, but I've logged a bug with the team that handles mesh translation.

Can you use another mesh export format with Prusa?

Hi @teemu.ikonen

I uploaded your design to the Bambu slicer, and it handles the empty object by removing it. What does your Fusion design look like? Is it an empty component? Any idea why it might be including an empty object?

@Warmingup1953

Can you share the actual Fusion design? (.f3d)?

Hi,
Please find attached the project file.
I checked the model and there is an empty body that causes the invalid 3MF export. 3MF format does not allow empty objects, Bambu slicer tolerates them and removes them with a warning. Some other slicers like PrusaSlicer refuse to process invalid 3MF files.
After I removed the empty body Fusion exported a valid 3MF.

Do you have any idea how an empty body was created? Perhaps in some editing workflow.

Looks like it occurs in this series of extrudes: a body is created, then extruded away to the exact edge:

This is probably a bug on our side.

Cheers,

Karina
