Fusion Crashing when Uploading .dwg or .dxf

Howdy,

I am trying to import / open a .dwg or .dxf file into Fusion 360. The upload would get to about 50% then the entire software would lock up.Even if the files were successfully uploaded, they cause Fusion 360 to freeze then crash when attempting to open them. I know have 3 or 4 files that are in this corrupted state that I can't delete b/c it shows that I'm still using them. I am using Fusion 360 (Education License) on Windows 10.

Is there anyway I can work around this bug so I can upload my workflow, as well as delete the corrupted files from the previous attempts? I've uploaded the troublesome .dwg (was unable to upload the .dxf or orginal .skp) file that I exported from SketchUp.

Note: I am trying to import the file as a more native format, as .skp gives a ton of problems with the geometry.

Thanks,
Blaine

I cannot help you with the DWG file but I can help you with a method to delete files that resist being deleted.  Take a look at this blog and video for the process.  As far a attaching files, you will have to zip some files in order to attach them.

My guess here is that this is just a really massive model, and is more than Fusion can handle.  Even importing this into viewer.autodesk.com took a very long time:

I was able to translate this DWG to an F3D, but Fusion is taking a VERY long time opening it (more than an hour so far).  So, even if I am able to open it, I suspect that I will not be able to do anything with it.  Where did the geometry here come from, and can it be simplified at all?  In its current state, I suspect it is going to not be something Fusion can handle.

Eventually, the design did open, but, unfortunately, the data in this design is not going to be useful to Fusion.  From what I can tell so far, it is composed of mesh data and what appears to be wireframe data.  Here is what the component "17_mm_Hex_Spacer" looks like - it has 32 mesh bodies and this wireframe geometry:

Where did this file come from, and what do you hope to do with it?  Fusion works best with solid or surface geometry that comes from a precise CAD modeler.  I'm afraid it is not going to know what to do with this kind of data.

This originally came from a SketchUp file. I tried to simplify it down by removing all the unnecessary components, however, I still had issues loading it.

Thanks for your help! The model is from the manufacturer of that robot and was modeled in SketchUp. I am modifying this robot as part of a project and I only really need the central "chassis" of the frame. I tried to simplify it in SketchUp (which I'm not very familiar with) by deleting all unnecessary components to my needs, but I still was having major issues importing it into Fusion.

Thank you for your help!

Looks like waiting a couple days also allowed me to delete the corrupted files.
