Hi folks fusion crashed. cant edit sketches on this file and others .  right click, double click no work.  Did something happen?  did we do something  wrong or missing something?

The design only has a base feature in it. That base feature contains the sketches and soli d bodies.

However, it being a base feature, any edits to the sketches are not parametric and do not result in automatically changes solid bodies.

this wasnt up until after it crashed. we update the date when we run the job every other month. If this is something we  did it was only because we were doing what we normally do. I dont know how to fix it. Can you help with it? My other files are behaving the same way.

Please explain what you were doing when Fusion 360 crashed.

Can you access and earlier version of that design and if so, does it still have a timeline ?

version 4. has the design change symbol. this has happened before. I don't know what fixed it or what we did to fix it but its a reoccurring problem.  once we click the design change icon the file behaves as you see.

we were doing as we always do to change the date. Again we normally have to go through the effort of re creating  the date sketch because of the problem we are addressing now. today as normal I went to change the date and fusion went unresponsive.

I don't know what the "design change symbol" is. Can you create a screenshot ?

Is there a reason you are not using the timeline in such a simple design?

Was this designed from scratch in Fusion 360?

that's the thing , we do. i  turn  it on and it behaves like it does. Today it crashed. Other days we have to re draw. Next time we open its gone again and we start the process over.   this file every time we open it has that design symbol there. If we had an update that would make sense and that seems to be when it happens. since we have used fusion an update changes a lot of our setting and files to the point of corrupting or losing them.

You did not answer the question whether or not this was designed from scratch in Fusion 360.

There's a reason I am asking this question. When you import geometry, Fusion 360 imports this with the timeline disabled (there are good reasons for that).

If you want to make parametric changes to such a part - editing the text of your sketch would be such a situation - , then at that point you need to turn on the timeline before you  make these changes.

this was imported as a solid part. we did turn on the timeline, several times  as i mentioned before.  As i mentioned before we do this regularly to change the date. every time we go back into the file this goes on. we have  been making these for 3 years.

Can you create a screencast o the process you are following?

I've never encountered this behavior in my own work or seen it reported on the forum, so any additional info you can provide might help!

I can do that when i get a minute. For now i attached screen shot of version 4. I enabled capture design history. When i pressed the design triangle button i got the alarm you see in the PIC. I pressed yes to update the design and after that the sketch is not not editable. I would have made the screencast first but i didnt  this before i got your email.

Here is the link to download Screencast.  When you do create your Screencast, do not try and attach it using the Screencast Paste below, instead use the URL and just link it to your post.

I am using your original posted model for my Screencast.  This model was edited in Base Feature Mode (Direct Modeling) so it must be edited in the same method to change the text and remove the previous cut letters and numbers.  The Screencast will show this.  Model is attached.

The same is probably true in this model.  I cannot tell because I cannot see the timeline, if there is one.

there is no time line. same as the other. but i can edit on this one. why? or why not? the other files of different parts started the same way i got these part files but they will heat the geometry.
