Fusion Crash when changing scale and font size in Drawings

Wondering if anyone else has this happen. I'll be working on a drawing... does not matter if it's a new one, and old one, and unsaved one, a saved one... if I go to change the scale of the drawing, or the font size, it's like a 50/50 chance the program locks up.

It's been like this for years for me. Happened on all three of my computers. It just happened again so figured I'd check and see if anyone else has this or a work around. I captured a screenshot of it locked up. Below you can see the cursor is next to the 3 in 3:1 in the scale dialog box. I just changed that from 1 to 3 and before the part could change to reflect this, it locked up. Only thing I can do is to force close fusion. This happens to me when changing font size too within the drawing space. It feels like a 50/50 shot of it locking up. it's probably closer to a 20/80... just feels like it happens all the time.

 

It's a real bummer when I forget to save and have to completely remake the drawing.

Yes, I believe I have asked about this once before without any resolution. I have this happen to me as well far too often and is quite frustrating. It does always happen in drawings when changing a number such as font size in those popup boxes. It does not happen every time and I have never been able to purposely reproduce it but it feels like a gamble every time I change a value in one of those pop-up boxes. I have just gotten into the habit of saving before changing font sizes and such because of this issue.

That is what I end up doing. I save before modifying or creating any text, before modifying dimensions (adding tolerances, etc), or changing the scale of a sketch. It's no way to live, but it's all I can do right now. 

 

I have been working on importing all of my companies decades old drawings into fusion. I still have around 150 to go... So very frustrating.

In Jan release, there are two crash/freeze issues resolved, which happens in edit drawing view UI dialog, and they will resolve the major issue of this post. Since this is a random issue, we are not 100% sure if this random issue is resolved in Jan release. So please upgrate to latest production build (2.0.18220), and check if it still happens. 

 

Btw, this issue had been tracked as internal ticket (FDWG-18009). If it is still reproducible in latest PorD, we will continue to investigate and fix it. Thanks for your patience and support.

Well mine just crashed again.

Tried to change Scale  and we're stuck

Sorry to hear that. May I know if there is a report ID when you met the crash or sent out the crash report, or the mail you inputted in crash report dialog? We'd like to search for the crash report and check if it is a known or different issue. Thanks

Mine has crashed again changing the scale. No reports can be made because the dialog never pops up. It's just fully locked.

 

Also, since the update, I've had a few times now where I boot up Fusion, go into a project folder, and there are zero files in it. Only folders. I hit refresh, nothing. I go back to the main page, and back into the project, nothing. I have to close fusion down, then reopen it again. 

 

I love this software but I feel like you're treating customers as beta testers. with all of these updates. It seems like every new update brings more bugs to the table. I would much rather have a year of no new features and just focus on reliability and speed, rather than constant new features when so many bugs remain. Just my two cents as a long time customer and owner of six seats.

Hi again,

 

just crashed again so nothing different there. Tried to change the aspect ratio and stuck.

Before the update when it crashed it left some parts of the program stuck on the screen and i had to go to Task Manager to close it. 

But now it seems like i can close the program with right click from the taskbar.

But as i went to check also the Task Manager it still there so apparently it did not close it.

Thanks qlcC5XKJ and ARTHUR-HM for the feedback. Sorry to hear that the issue is still reproducible in the update version.

 

Since this is a random issue, we only reproduce it one time internally. It is pretty hard for debug and fixing. If there is any step to repeat this issue consistently, it will be very helpful.

Hello,

I apologize but it is unbearable to work with this bug which unfortunately you did not fix in the last update.
Before you send me to check settings:
I changed the video card.
I changed every possible setting.
I made a new drawing template
You have a bug! By changing the scale or sometimes by changing thing in the drawing view , fusion 
stuck and doesn't respond.
please fix this bug .

I really is making it hard to be productive when it is constantly crashing and we are losing work. It happens to me at least 3-6 times a day. I have also now had the problem a couple of times where I go to fix a model and update it in the drawings and my new animation views will not show up even if I start a new drawing. It has caused me to have to completely remodel and redraw projects that have taken week's worth of work.

That is quite frequent. We aren't having luck reproducing on our end so if you're having such consistent issues it might be worth having a screen share and sharing some of your files with us if you're available.

The team is activly working on finding the cause and implimenting a solution to this. We pushed out some updates in the most recent release aimed at this issue, but clearly haven't solved it yet.

Can anyone pls help to launch Process Explorer when work on Fusion? Please create mini dump files from both AcCoreConsole.exe and Fusion.exe when issue happens, and share the files with us. They will be helpful for us to check which processes have particular handles opened or DLLs loaded. You can also send them via mail. My mail address is 'Liang.chen@autodesk.com'

We received some dump files from users, and added some improvement and fixing by the symptom found in Dump. Ideally, the fixing will reduce the frequency of this issue, and it is available in the new update of ProD versin (2.0.18477). Please update to the latest version, and let us know if this issue is still there.
