Fusion Crash when changing scale and font size in Drawings

Wondering if anyone else has this happen. I'll be working on a drawing... does not matter if it's a new one, and old one, and unsaved one, a saved one... if I go to change the scale of the drawing, or the font size, it's like a 50/50 chance the program locks up.

It's been like this for years for me. Happened on all three of my computers. It just happened again so figured I'd check and see if anyone else has this or a work around. I captured a screenshot of it locked up. Below you can see the cursor is next to the 3 in 3:1 in the scale dialog box. I just changed that from 1 to 3 and before the part could change to reflect this, it locked up. Only thing I can do is to force close fusion. This happens to me when changing font size too within the drawing space. It feels like a 50/50 shot of it locking up. it's probably closer to a 20/80... just feels like it happens all the time.

It's a real bummer when I forget to save and have to completely remake the drawing.

Hi everyone still having issues with this.

We really want to fix these issues for you. Please share a link to one of the 2D drawings where is occurs with us (maybe there's something in a template file that is misbehaving?)

Also, please clear your cache and see if this improves your experience.

Another variable could be your graphics setup, it may seem counterintuitive, but 2D drawings require a pretty specific graphics setup.

Please send me a DXDIAG of your machine, let's see if we can get to the bottom of this.

Hi @ARTHUR-HM

There is a newer version of your graphics driver available here:  https://www.nvidia.co.uk/download/driverResults.aspx/216972/en-uk

Please clear your cache and then install this driver.

The other thing that you need to do, is to set Fusion & AccoreConsole to run using “High Performance” graphics. Unfortunately, Windows 10 & 11 now control how apps run, this used to be configurable in the NVIDIA Control panel. I have put together a guide here.

Hey @ARTHUR-HM

This drawing behaves well in testing on a Windows PC. Please let me know if the cleared cache plus the graphics driver install & config (setting Fusion & AcCoreConsole to High Performance) get the same behaviour for you.

It just crashed yet again.

ARTHURHM_0-1702914162319.png

All I did was create a drawing, try to change the scale from 1:3 to 1:1, and locked up.

I will update my driver and clear cache. I update my drivers all the time, and I've cleared the cache a few times before with no luck. I'll try the high-performance steps you suggested. I have two desktops and a laptop. Happens to them all. I also have five employees with their own seat, and it's happened to the two of them who use drawings. (the other strictly use it for CAM).

Hi,

I have the same problem occurring to me quite often. As i go to change scale ratio in drawing it suddenly stops.
Sometimes when i choose Close from the windows taskbar it even offers me to still save the file but it never does save.

Other times its just crashed and only way to close the program is through task manager - end task

It seems more like general issue than something specific to a file im working at the moment.

Havent been able to make it crash on purpose.

We are sorry to hear about the issues you are facing.

Can you please share the Diagnostic logs file to nabarun. paul {a} Autodesk. com?

Once we restart Fusion, after we face the issue, we can get the log files from Help->Support and Diagnostics->Diagnostics Log Files

Running into the same issue.

Never freezes/crashes while modeling, but happening nearly every time I use the Drawing Mode.

Like others have stated, happening when changing scale size or font size.

Happens both on my PC, and on my laptop.

Graphics drivers are up to date on both.

Sorry for the issue you are facing. We have not reproduced it, and will continue to test it in different type of environment. Sometimes, residual old installation file could lead to unexpected behavior, as well as sepcfic device.  Can you pls try the items below?

  1. Please do a clean uninstallation and reinstall fusion. Please refer to link the below for clean uninstall fusion.
  2. If you are using space mouse (3Dconnexion), please check if the issue is reproducible when use normal mouse

1) The home computer it also happens on is a brand-new install of windows and fusion. Was hoping that'd solve it, it did not.

2) I do use a space mouse. I do not use it at all when creating drawings. But I will disconnect and see if that helps at all.

I run into this issue on occasion when editing a dimension tolerance. It has happened on and off for a few years now, but its incredibly sporadic. It will generally occur several times in a day or week timeframe, but then doesnt happen at all for months at a time. I have had it occur on multiple machines across multiple clean installs of Fusion, all using Windows 10/11. All have used Intel processors of i5 to i7, between 8th Gen and 12th Gen. All Nvidia GPUs of various models (An old Quadro (uncertain which), 1080, 2060-Laptop). Most of my drawings are small enough that I do them in one sitting, so I do not usually have saved files and have to restart from scratch, but it also doesnt generally happen on my second attempt. I have used no special peripherals (off-brand mouse, Corsair gaming mouse, off brand keyboard, Dell keyboard).

On a potentially related note, I recently had an incredibly large file to work on, and while I did not freeze indefinitely, it did frequently stall for about a minute at a time when creating the first floating text box per page. Not all the time, but several times. There were many performance issues due to the nature/immensity of that particular document, so I am not trying to read too terribly deep into that experience, but it seemed at least adjacent to the problem.

Crashed again without having the space mouse on or connected. No USB adapter in.

Same thing as usual. I created a model, saved. clicked drawings, and when the dialog pops up to place the first view I trid to change it from 1:2 to 1:1 and it locked up.

Well, maybe my software went on holiday and didn't tell me...
Yesterday I got stuck at least 8 times
I have to open the task manager to close fusion.
You have to resize and immediately press enter to close the window otherwise you risk a crash.
I updated the video card.
I disconnected the 3D mouse.

cleared the Cache.

I went probably a good four or five months without this problem and in the past couple of weeks it has started to happen to me daily again. It used to only happen when I was changing text size but now is also happening when I am changing model scale size.

I am also experiencing this same version of this crash and it is very frustrating.

I have been utilizing Fusion 360 for all of my modeling, rendering, CAM, and now 2D drawings for my furniture design company. The only crashing I have experienced in all of this has been in the drawing menu while updating either font sizing or scaling of projections. The entire program locks up and I must in the task through task manager. After doing so however I am also still left with the task bar and other elements from the design screen locked onto my desktop screen which requires me to force end the program through task manager.

I am on a recently updated Windows machine utilizing a RTX 2070 Super GPU that is a little under 2 years old.

These are my graphic diagnostics:

matthewaaron1_1-1703899343906.png

Here is a link to the model I was attempting to make a 2D Drawing of:

https://a360.co/3twVzVl

Here is a link to my Title Block Template:

https://a360.co/3voIUEe

I have included an image of what Fusion 360 appears like after locking up, note you can see "Scale" under the "Drawing View" tab is what was selected before the crash.

I have also included an image of the elements from the Drawing tab that are locked onto my home screen after closing Fusion 360 via the task manager. These elements are only removed after ending Fusion under the  "Background Processes" drop down.

These are just examples of my most recent crash, however this crash occurs nearly every time I make a 2D drawing of my furniture designs, which is required for everything I do for my shop and my clients. This crash has significantly slowed down my workflow and my ability to provide my employees and clients with the necessary elements we need to be successful.

Please let me know what other information or elements I need to provide to help assist you all with reproducing and solving this crash.
