Fusion 360 won't start without Internet connection

Anonymous
Not applicable

Yesterday i installed Fusion 360 version 2.0.10813 and it works with internet connection.

Then i activate the offline mode and close the application. Now i disconnect the LAN cable (= no internet).

Then i try to start Fusion 360 again without internet connection, but this is not possible. Fusion asks for a internet connection. This behaviour is from my side not acceptable, because i need a offline solution if the internet is not working for any reason.

According the official description at the autodesk page, offline working should be possible.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Doe...

After reactivating the internet, Fusion starts again, but i have to login again (inconvenience).

I check some older forum entries, where they have identical problems due to internet outage, but there was no solution so far.

Is it possible to work with Fusion without an internet connection?

Hello @Anonymous ,

Sorry for the trouble you are facing.

I tried the steps you mentioned :

  • Installed Fusion 360-->Login to Fusion account and works properly with internet
  • Now go to Offline mode-->Disconnect internet-->For me fusion works in offline mode.

If you are staring fusion for the first time in offline mode, that should not be possible and you would get a pop up saying you need to login to Fusion.

Thanks!

Hi Mohammed,

thanks for your effort.

Please check after disconnecting internet:

  • Close Fusion360
  • Start Fusion360

Thats what i'm writing above. I'll expect offline mode to fully independend from internet, also after restarting Fusion360, otherwise it is no true offline mode.

Pls follow this:
1. Be connected to the internet
2. start the laptop (but don't start F360)
3. go to F360 cache and delete the whole cache
4. launch F360 (wait for 2 mins/do some edit and save)
5. close F360
6. disconnect from the internet
7. launch F360 >> let me know if it is working or not

clear cache:
windows: C:\Users\<xyz>\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Autodesk Fusion 360
mac: /Users/<xyz>/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360

A better idea first in case something is stuck in the cache take fusion offline reboot the computer with the net off leave it off try to start fusion again if it does not work reboot the computer again if it does work reboot the computer again start fusion and turn the net back on also if you have screencast make sure you are signed into it.

"A better idea first in case something is stuck in the cache take fusion offline reboot the computer with the net off leave it off try to start fusion again "
-> Fusion360 won't start, asking for internet!

And your next steps:
"if it does not work reboot the computer again if it does work reboot the computer again start fusion and turn the net back on also if you have screencast make sure you are signed into it."
-> Sorry, but this should be tested by Autodesk, because the bug is reproducible!

Thats it! After clearing the cache and follow your steps above, Fusion360 starts in offline mode. Note, that before step 5 you have to switch into offline mode.
But never the less, sometimes the Offline Mode will be corrupted due to bad cache mangement. This is a bug and needs to be solved and of course makes users not happy.
My impression from new Fusion360 distribution into the user field is the same as Win10Home and Win10Prof. First Win10 updates are distributed to the Win10Home users, to identify potential bugs in the field. Then thereafter Win10Prof will be updated with the experience from Wom10Home and incorperates many solved bugs.
Autodesk has high end tools and it seems, that Fusion360 users have the role of Win10Home users...

What happens if you don't disconnect the internet before step5?

My bad, I just realized you said 'switch into offline mode' and not 'get offline'.
Yes, you are right, before step5 turn Fusion 360 into offline mode through the toggle switch at the top bar.
