Fusion 360 will not open.

When I try to open Fusion 360, the idle wheel spins for a few seconds then disappears and nothing happens (Fusion 360 does not open). Do I need to do a re-install of Fusion 360? If I do need to do a re_install, how do I do a re-install without losing my existing drawing files?

Hi @thirtytu,

Thank you for asking about that in the Forum.

Could you may restart your computer and check if you are connected to the Internet?

If this does not help, please follow the steps below.

Just a note, check in A360 if all projects have been uploaded to the cloud before you do the clean uninstall.

A. Get a clean Installation of Fusion 360:

  1. Deactivate all Firewalls and Antivirus software

  2. Uninstall 3rd Party Antivirus software like Avast, McAfee, Kaspersky etc.

  3. Run the automatic clean uninstall script for Windows

  4. Run the automatic clean uninstall script for Mac

  5. Download the latest Build of Fusion 360 with the link Here

  6. Install it with Right-Click on the *.exe or *.dmg as "Run as Administrator"

  7. Right-click on the Fusion 360 launch icon and "Run as Administrator"

B. If this did not help, could you please share the information below with me:

  1. Installation, Application and Web Services Log files Here
  2. System information file use the article Here

Please, keep me updated.

Thank you,

I've had something similar and have found the solution is to go into task manager and kill any fusion 360 processes that are currently running. It sometimes seems to leave some running and the program doesn't open as it thinks it is already open.

Ditto here -- was trying to create a new folder this evening, and folder appeared, though grayed out, with spinning arrow next to it.  As if something was hung on the cloud/Autodesk end.

I quit the program and restarted, but got nothing but a few bare elements on the screen and then the spinning beach ball (27" iMac, i7, 32gig ram).  I terminated the app a few times but got the same situation on every restart.

Finally nuked the program and all the related files per instructions (though I simply just killed the entire Autodesk folder under ~/users/<me>/Application Support/

Reinstalled from the Autodesk site (not Apple's App Store), and was back up and running quickly.

All good....    Sure couldn't have repaired SW that quickly!!    Thumbs Up!

I am having the same problem, and many other people are. However, your instructions did not help. After an update or something, I can not open fusion 360. I just get a blue wheel that spins on my cursor for a few seconds and then it stops. This problem happens with Windows 10 1903. Help.

Same here for me. I think is related the Windows Insider release. Unfortunately other things broke as well with this release (WSL/Docker WSL). I have network connectivity and done a cleanup/fresh install. Just spinner for a few secs then nothing.

I have the same problem and tried reinstalling using the above procedure but still, it's not opening.

I couldn't find the app log and web service log files.

Great! Killing the Autodesk and the fusion processes did the trick. A reboot might of worked also, come to think of it.

so here's an issue.... on my windows pc I was starting to learn fusion and then it randomly stopped working. would either never open the splash screen, stay froze at the splash screen, or crash after opening the splash screen. recently, I tried firing it up on my desktop and it fired up just fine within about 15 minutes of loading after 2 years of not trying it. now I have a Mac. just programmed a couple parts last week perfectly. got a bunch of new programs made in the last month.... today I open my Mac, it did the splash screen once, and never again. I'm connected to the internet and tried shutting the Mac down and back on again. I try to open fusion and and it just bounces at the bar, or sometimes the rainbow idle wheel pops up, but that it..... I really think this isn't a matter of a "clean" version as I got it straight from fusion 2 different times.... I think since there are multiple forums about this, that this is an ongoing issue that fusion refuses to handle. what exactly is the benefit of me buying this software if I can't use it, or, somehow its on my end that its not working when this is such a common issue across the board for all your members....?
