Hi,

Can you tell us what exactly is happening? Is it freezing on launch? Or after it loads? Or while executing a command?

Are you seeing any kind of error message?

Also, you mentioned nothing has changed, is there any chance there's a pending Mac update that needs to be installed?

I also started having issues this week.  Same OS/version.  Regular user, almost daily.  Yesterday, upload stopped working.  This is a big deal, as our workflow does not start with Fusion 360.  Now, when we upload any file type into the library, the upload just hangs.  Doesn't complete.  Doesn't fail.  Tried the manual clearing of library directory files per knowledgebase.  No change in application behavior.  OS is up-to-date, no updates pending.

Hi,

sorry to hear of the trouble. Can you upload your log files? These may help us figure out what's going on.

In Fusion go to the Help (?) menu > Support and Diagnostics > Diagnostic log files.

Uninstall F360 completely, then reinstall. Problem will go away.

Hi,

Sorry to hear of the trouble,

Have you checked Security & Privacy (under System Preferences) to ensure the OS is allowing Fusion to run? Usually if you click the icon and it bounces but doesn't launch this is the cause.

Having the same issues. Latest update of OS 10.15.4, all system requirements are met. Bouncing Icon; splash window; second window opens behind it the the crash and notification window to report to Apple. Followed instructions in knowledge base to clean deinstall through both options (app and manual), downloaded .dmg again, ran install same problems.

Hi,

After starting the install are you seeing a message that it can't run because it's from an "unknown developer"?

If so, check under Security and Privacy and click the Open anyway button.

Also, did you have the Apple Store version of Fusion 360 at any time? Could this version be still on your system? Check under Applications. If found, move to trash as the .COM version only installs to the LaunchPad.

Lastly, if still unsuccessful any log files you can provide would help us see what's going on. Check under:

/users/{username}/library/application support/autodesk/autodesk fusion 360/{guid folder}/log

Is there any update on this, I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and still cannot start F360 it crashes a few seconds after startup. at the moment I am locked out of my projects and in danger of losing a lot of hard to reproduce work. Are you going to release an update ?

Hi,

Sorry to hear of the continued problems. Were you able to find any log files?

I am currently running OSX 10.15.5. I wonder if you have a pending update that might be blocking us? Can you check the App Store?

If so and once the update is complete, restart the system. Then delete the folder Web Services which is found in /users/{username}/library/application support/autodesk.

10.15.5 is beta, not LTS no guarantee any fix will survive to release, I think you need to patch F360 rather than suggest your users upgrade to an unreleased version of macOS, this is really hurting us and will push us away from Auto Desk unless you provide real support for your products on macOS.

Hi,

The issue wasn't we wanted the customer to install the update, it's usually that the update is pending and blocking our attempts to connect to our servers.

The same thing happens with Windows updates when they're downloaded but not installed.

Now 10.15.5 is LTS I have installed it, Fusion 360 still crashes on startup.

I have done a full uninstall reinstall, removed the Autodesk folder under Library...

More worryingly I have looked into the stack trace and it looks like Fusion 360 is digging into the SystemInfo db on start up and trying to retrieve PII data from the mobile device profiles help in the config db. Why would you be trying to retrieve the appleid of the iphone configs on my machine via the blue tooth registry? What are you doing with this data?

This is a serious breach of macOS security, almost certainly contravenes your Apple Developer agreement and could well be why the application won't start.

As macOS gets more and more locked down badly behaving applications get harder to run and have increasingly drastic effects on the OS, this latest combination of Fusion 360 and 10.15.5 actually panics the kernel and crashes the whole machine.

I think you need to take a really serious look at how your app is working, in time support for the older versions of macOS required to run Fusion 360 will no longer be supported or secure so you will find that no one with a mac will be able to use the product.

I've never had any such problems on my mac systems. Neither on the 2010 27" iMac nor on the Mid 2017 15" MacBook Pro I am using now.

Hi,

I don't think what you are experiencing is typical. For one thing, this forum would be full of reports that Fusion crashes on startup on 10.15.5, because there are thousands of customers on that OS.

Further, Apple is well aware of Fusion 360 and how it works. It would not be possible to release Fusion 360 if it violated the agreements.

That said, I'm happy to take a look at any logs or videos or other evidence of what you are seeing. Do you get any kind of crash callstack from macOS when you crash? Can you show me these security violations in a screenshot or video? Glad to follow up using your information.

Thanks,

I very much doubt there are thousands of users on 10.15.5 it was only released on May 26 !!!!!

If you are so confident about it working why can’t you come up with a solution

I cannot offer a solution for a problem I cannot verify exists. In order to debug a crash, I must reproduce it.

Personally I'm on the beta program and have been running (testing daily) 10.15.5 for a while. Recently I moved to 10.15.6. Also, I'm not the only Fusion developer with the latest OS.

In conclusion, I have no idea what you are finding, or why. I'd love to help you but I have precious little to go on other than your description.

Hi Phil,

I experienced the same problem.   The Application was "dead" - completely unresponsive. OS v 10.15.5 Catalina

The uninstaller launched to the extent that an icon appeared in the dock, but nothing else happened.  It was just like clicking on a desktop photo - dead!

One significant change (which has not affected any other apps) is that I have not opened F360 since transferring all my data to a new machine.  I can't imagine what came unstuck in that process but it's all I can think of.
I have checked the Console log, but there's no sign of any activity at all even as I click on the app icon or control click!

For want of a better solution I simply dragged the app and the uninstaller to the trash and installed from a fresh download - all seems to be working OK, but I am a novice F360 user so time will tell!

cheers!
