Fusion 360 Roadmap for M1 Mac Optimization?

TLDR: what are the current / future plans for Fusion 360 in terms of native M1 Mac support?

There are already a number of posts on whether Fusion runs on M1 (it does) as well as posts detailing bugs and issues (there are plenty but - in my experience - it's "fine"). I've read there is active work being done to make a native M1 version so I'd love to get some more details! 🙂

  • What is the current state of these efforts? We're not going to hold you against it, but do you have a guesstimate how far it's away?
  • What could be a rough timeline for a Beta and at some point a full release?
  • If you can say - what kind of priority does this project have for the Fusion / Autodesk Team?

Here is the official statement on the M1 native support:  running-fusion-360-with-rosetta-2-on-apple-arm-based-m1-chipsets .

The short answer is:  "No, we cannot give you a date when this will be ready".  I know that you, personally, might not hold us to that, but, legally, others might not be so generous.

I can answer this one:  "what kind of priority does this project have for the Fusion / Autodesk Team?".  Yes, this is a high priority for the development team.

There is just a LOT of code, and it is built on a LOT of other code, and we want to get it right, so it will take longer than any of us really would like it to.

This would be a big win for us M1 Mac users. The other would be if the graphics supported Apple's Retina screen resolution (218ppi or greater). Nothing else maters to me than these two things.
