Fusion 360 Renewal Issue

Hello,

I need help because Autodesk support has been unhelpful and they even suggested that I post here if I need more help.

  • Case: 23841149
  • A little over a month back I was faced with renewal of my Fusion 360 Legacy subscription. The renewal price was $545/seat and I had two seats. This is a lot more than what I originally paid a couple years back, but fine.
  • I needed to reduce seats to one. When I went online to reduce seats I was unable to do so.
  • I contacted support. They called me. They said they would take care of it. They later said they couldn't fix it and I had to buy two seats with no explanation.
  • I didn't need two seats and I wasn't going to pay for two seats. I kept fighting with support getting no where and it expired.
  • I still have work to do so I was forced to buy a new subscription with renewal at $680/year. I hoped that Autodesk would eventually do the right thing and fix whatever happened.
  • I have been going back and fourth with support over email and phone calls for over a month and I am getting absolutely no where. sometimes they contact me and say "so I understand you want help adding seats?" or some other issue while completely ignoring the entire email chain.
  • I have asked over and over and over again to elevate my case, for manager support, for a US person. I never get anywhere.
  • They finally told me that the reason I couldn't reduce seats was because I was on Legacy and apparently that's not allowed. They insisted. Several emails of back and fourth. I asked over and over again for documentation and they would never provide and they just told me that's how it is.
  • Finally, they just proudly emailed me this: https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fusion-Industry-Cl...
  • This article says that as of January 30, 2024 Legacy customers would stay at $310 (I was at $545, what?).
  • It also says that current, non-Legacy, subscribers will remain at $490, unless you expire, until renewal in 2027.
  • Since I was forced to get a new license I am on the new pricing at $680 renewal.

I don't have words to describe how frustrating this has been. I used to LOVE Autodesk. I have convinced hundreds of people to buy or switch to Autodesk over the years. I love the student license model (I had to pay for CAD as a student back in the day), and I think Fusion, despite its problems, is going somewhere.

But this is ridiculous.

@BoogyWoogySaurus Our sincere apologies for this experience you have been having. I am going to take this to investigate on exactly what happened here and see what could our next steps. Will certainly need some time but I will update back here.

Hi Simon,

That's an interesting idea and I was unaware that resellers deal with Fusion. If I don't make any headway here I will pursue that for sure. I was however hoping to leave out unnecessary and costly third parties (Fusion is inexpensive compared to other things, can't imagine a reseller wants to squabble over a couple hundred dollars).

I have also already started posting on social media hoping to get some more public attention. I feel immensely dragged through the mud on this one. It's really nuts.

When I first started using Autodesk products ~10 years ago support was wonderful. More recently when I purchased it for my company the sales team was helpful and easy to deal with. But I feel like autodesk has dropped the ball on support over the last few years and now after you buy a product (great sales team attention) then you're swept aside. I cannot support that.

I truly hope that Autodesk pulls through. I hope they fix this. I hope they make it up to me. I hope they restore my faith in the product and the company. I want to love Autodesk again and I want to talk about it with pride and how I think the product is building this insane all-in-one tool that is some day going to reach the sky, and it's going to be epic. I want this to happen.

But right now, IRd want to dump it hard and find somethine else even if it is far more expensive. Don't care. They will not succeed in reaching their goals if this is how they treat customers, let alone "fans" like myself.

Whew! In any case -  appreciate that idea. I will give this a little more time and see what happens on the Autodesk forums before I do that. But I will keep this forum updated!

Note to mods: this topic is cross posted in the Fusion forum. This happened by accident because this specific post in Installation & Licensing Forum was originally flagged as spam.

@BoogyWoogySaurus @I do not have any real update here other than this is now escalated and being looked into as high priority. It’s certainly going to take a bit of time on our side to get the full picture here and do the right thing.  I will keep updating here as I know more.
