Fusion 360 pricing for makers

Dear managers,

You really did a very good job. You and your team created a very
good tool and marketed it really very cleverly, if not too cleverly.
At first one is led to believe that everything is free everything is free,
at least for hobbyists and makers. And now that? Of course that day
had to come I think nobody was so stupid to believe it would not.
But what I don't understand about the whole thing is now why such a jump?
From free to virtually nothing or $60 a month? Don't you think that this
was one move too many. On the web are a lot of comments and opinions
about that, a lot of people write that they will no longer use Fusion 360
because of this and I also think it will lose its poluarity very quickly.
Are you really aware of that? Fusion was the tool of choice for generation X
in particular, and I think a lot came about through the tool itself.
Please reconsider your move, make an online meeting and bring
a solution for us?
I think this tool would be worth 100-200 dollars a year to every hobbiest
and maker. But the actual price is not affordable.

Come on give it a try....
cheers mathias

Yep, there is no pricing for personal use. I use Fusion 360 for hobby 3D printing projects. I will never pay 40$+ a month. So I have no choice than to move to another software. It looks like that you forget that making your software accessible for personal use was a great way to market your product.

A very sad decision, that will totally change the way your company is now perceived.

To both of you; What's not possible to make in the Personal (free) version? Serious question. All the modeling tools are still there, you can still export .stl's for printing, you can use the additive manufacturing workspace, most of CAM is still available. So where's the source for the anxiety?

What I am missing the most is no probing, automatic tool change and rapid feed. Also the 4 Axis on my cnc is now unuseable. So if you have a family and a day job i think you also understand why time is the most problem. All this features are in connection to time. I do not have any automatic tool change on my cnc but no it is not possible to use a hand tool change at all. Also no rapid feed is a big time problem. I would pay for that that isn´t a problem but not that  much.

Can I have more than 10 projects in the future? Or will there also be on the roadmap that someone can only have 10 projects at all. What´s comming next....

I initially did not found the "personal license", which is now hidden behind the "60 days trial choice". So my software is back! I'm fine with the few limitations.

I guest I'm not the first to get into this issues for a recent subscription renewal...

Thanks for the answer, anyway!

Probing, tool changes, 4th axis, full rapids. Those are exactly the things that a production shop needs. How do you propose opening those up to hobbyists but at the same time prevent abuse from commercial companies that should be paying their fair share?

Also, I'm not privy to any plans to make it "10 projects total". I don't think they would ever take that step, it's a highly unlikely scenario.

-EDIT- And that $60/mo price is if you opt for a monthly sub. It's only $495 if you go annual. If this is your hobby, consider that there are costs tied to every hobby, and this is far cheaper than some other ones. Heck, a season pass to the local ski slope often runs more than twice that. So, perspective...

I cannot completly agree with you. I do not want to get everything for free. But I hope there will be a paid hobbiest or personal version with a ceaper price. It dependes what you are doing and where you live so $495 is not the same for everyone.
