Fusion 360 personal use login problem.

Fusion 360 personal use login problem.

When I launch Fusion 360, after the splash screen disappears my screen comes back completely black except for the Fusion 360 title bar at the top, left-hand corner. I suspect this is supposed to be the login screen. There are two places on the blank screen where the cursor becomes a text input symbol and two places where it becomes the "hand" symbol. If I were sure of what I was supposed to enter, I might get lucky typing blindly but an image of what the screen really is would be helpful.  Also, preventing the black-on-black behavior would be a permanent fix but not sure how to do this.

Thanks and Be Well,

Dave

Hi this sounds more like a graphics problem.

These questions should help sort it out:

  • Did it work previously, or are you using a new installation of Fusion?
  • What operating system?
  • Are you using two monitors?

Hi, Phil.
Yes, it did work previously and Yes it is a new installation of Fusion.
OS is Windows 10
Single monitor.
Since the problem began I was successful once in blindly guessing where to
enter my login information in the black/blank screen and from there on the
program ran normally but I can't seem to repeat that process.
Thanks,
Dave

So what I'm hearing you say is it's not a problem any longer. Is that true?

No, still can't get past the black/blank screen.  If you could send me a screenshot of the login page that would be a helpful 1st step.  Then once I can login we can address why the black screen in the 1st place.

Thanks,

Dave

If you haven't yet, restart your computer.

Without entering Fusion, you should check for updates to your video drivers. If you have a card like NVIDIA or AMD go to the manufacturer site.

Here are the login screens:

Hi, Phil.

That was very helpful - got logged in and launched.  I do get a notice immediately after logging in that the software renderer is in use so I think you are right that my Raedon video card is not adequate.  Drivers were already current though.  Re-launching Fusion proceeds without the black/blank screen but I suspect that after I reboot the PC I will get the black/blank screen again.  The screenshots of the login screens will let me use my blind login method until I get a new graphics card.

Thanks,

Dave

I'm inclined to think your graphics card is probably sufficient and there is a driver or settings problem.

Did you verify the driver version by going to the AMD site?

Another thing you could try is changing the graphics driver in Fusion preferences. It's on the general UI settings, default panel. Preferences is found on the user menu, upper right corner.

Instead of "automatic" try setting it to DX9.

@Anonymous if the software renderer is in use, that generally means the hardware graphics card is not in use. Unless you know the GPU to be non-operational, clean reinstalling the drivers might be worth a try. Additionally, confirm that you are not plugged into the wrong GPU, in the event your motherboard and dedicated graphics both have inputs.
