I have had this problem for the past week and its really getting frustrating.

Fusion 360 starts up fine and I get prompted with the tab do you want to recover files tab. no matter what I do as soo as the tab closes fusion freezes and I cant do anything anymore.

I would love to know if there is a way to solve this problem I already tried reinstalling fusion 360 that did not seem to work and i am also tried updating all my drivers on my pc.

When you say freezes, I'm assuming there is no crash dialog for you to send in. Is that true?

One thing you could try is using Help > Support and Diagnostics > Clear Cache data. This should let Fusion start without showing you the recovery dialog.

So I get this screen first, and after I click away/close or select open/delete on the recovery file the dialogue box goes away and fusion freezes with me not being able to do anything. is there a way to manually delete the cache? because I can't get to the tool in fusion. Thank you very much for your help!

Two things to try.

First the simple test: Disconnect internet to your machine and start Fusion. (disable wifi or pull ethernet cable).

  • If Fusion starts and you can get past this dialog...
  • Go to help > support and diagnostics > diagnostic log files.
  • Those logs will be very interesting to look at.

If that fails, close Fusion and gather your logs manually. (sorry for the inconvenience). Instructions are here:

I did not see your message in time, I fully deleted fusion 360 from my computer along with all the files related to it and after that reinstalled it. this seemed to fix the problem. this means that I do not have the logs. thank you for all your help!

I also just found out that working with 2 monitors makes it crash but if I unplug 1 of them it fusion starts up normally. ultimaker Cura had the same issue and that could be fixed by unclicking Restore window position on start is there a similar setting for fusion?

You could try the command to reset to default layout:

  • File > View > reset to default layout.
  • This should bring all Fusion windows to the main monitor.

But that may not solve the crash. There are two reasons dual monitors might cause issues similar to what you just described regarding two monitors.

One is using a docking station:

The other is related to audio drivers:

Does either of these look like your case?

Thanks a lot for the help! resetting to default layout seems to have worked. I tried the other fixes as well but they did not seem to work.
