Yesterday Autodesk decided to upset all their F360 hobbyist user telling them that in 12 days they'll no longer be able to properly work on their designs.
It's a questionable decision, perhaps there were too many unfair users doing business with a “free” version and that’s unacceptable from a company point of view. I understand it.
But this software has improved during time also with the support of the loyal community that helped to make it an almost* irreplaceable tool for many of us.
I would like to ask all of you how many would pay a 10$/month subscription to have back some features, something like this:
Price
- 120$/year (only yearly subscription available)

All local and cloud simulation strategies (cloud simulations only with cloud credits – no free cloud simulation):
- Linear and non-linear static stress
- Thermal and thermal stress analysis
- Event simulation
- Structural buckling
- Modal frequencies
- Shape optimization
Generative design technology (Requires cloud credits or a subscription)
I think, this kind of subscription would be good enough for the most of the hobbyist and limiting enough to dissuade most of those crafty professionals to use it.
So... How many of you would pay for it?
*with ALMOST irreplaceable I mean that the most of us would love to stay with F360, even if we have to pay. But only a FAIR amount considering our hobbyist pockets, otherwise it is worth to consider alternatives (e.g. a “free” SolidWorks license).
