Fusion 360 Education license issues

At the risk of sounding frustrated....Autodesk/Fusion needs to get this kind of crap figured out!  I'm a teacher, and the number of times I've been told to uninstall and reinstall Fusion360 is INSANE!!!!  As a teacher, not only is this lost productivity for the entire class, but it's frustrating to the student who is just starting into Fusion360 for the first time and trying to learn a software that has a little bit of a learning curve.  The LAST thing they should have to worry about is uninstalling and reinstalling the software.  I don't teach a Fusion360 class, or even a CAD class, but we use Fusion360 for the small amount of CAD/CAM work that we need to do.  I'm really beginning to think that Inventor may be the more reliable way to go....collaboration be damned....even though there are solutions for that as well. I had two students hope on today and it immediately crashed on them.  Are you telling me the other 78 students I have will have to do the same thing?  I can't even get Fusion360 to get license's right.  I...the teacher...invited all my students using manage.autodesk.com and assigned them to Fusion360.  But the number of times it's still telling me "30 day Trial" is pathetic.  Once again...lost productivity!  I really am about ready to go to Inventor.

PREACH!!

I am a teacher as well and Fusion has been an absolute nightmare from day 1. Getting all my students approved for educational access is such a pain and often doesnt work.  Fusion constantly freezes, crashes, or works sluggishly. I have now reinstalled Fusion 3 different times on 16 laptops...still crashes....Make that 4 different times-I reinstalled this morning and still no luck.

I really like Fusion but it is not realible enough to use in the classroom at this point.  If I tell my students one more time that I need to "try and reinstall again" they are going to lose it.  Luckily I only have intro classes and have swtiched to Sketchup and Onshape which is fine for the basic stuff. (no issues with log in or crashing, ever) When I teach more advanced CAD/CAM work we will have to figure something out (Inventor or Solidworks).

@clarkbd We certainly hear and understand the frustration. We are doing many things that we hope will enhance the experience as we move forward. we also are looking at options to enhance the teaching community experience. Frustrations can quickly add up especially if you are not able to launch the product and recently we have found that updates to OS also influences some of that experience.
Many engineers from Autodesk are actively present here on the forums and we are certainly ready to help out as soon as possible on issues encountered and we do take these learnings and transfer them to possible opportunities for improvements to Fusion.

Just wanted end with saying we are listening and certainly available to help out. Happy to connect with you on the issues your students are experiencing. Please do note that not all of our user base are seeing these issues. This is where the environment and the hardware comes into play and could be unique to different machines.

can you tell me why my educationally registered student still says 30 day trial?  I would expect with the new system for signing up students I would NEVER see that again.

We can certainly look at this but would like to move this to a separate thread.

@Anonymous Can you please help move this to a separate thread?
@clarkbd can you provide more details to look up the account in our back end? An email Id would be a good start. You can send the email ID to be looked at to rajDOTkumarDOTilanchelianATautodeskDOTcom.

Hi @clarkbd,

Per our email exchange, I'll look forward to hearing more from you when you're able to work with your students again on this issue.

For the record here, if an educator is inviting a student to access Fusion using this method, then the invited student should see the education license active upon launching Fusion, assuming the student is logging in to Fusion with the same email address that you used to invite your student.

If that's not happening, sometimes it helps to have the student sign out of Fusion, then sign back in again. If that still doesn't help, there may be issues with Fusion recognizing the education entitlement in the product.

Regards,

Gabe
