Fusion 360 crashes on the simplest of tasks

Anonymous
Not applicable

First day with Fusion 360.  Downloaded the personal trial and installed.  My box exceeds the minimum requirements, except maybe the graphics card.  I'm trying to follow a tutorial by starting with a new file, creating a rectangle, and adding dimensions and BOOM it crashes.

I have v2.0.9937 running on Windows Pro 10.019041, 2.4GHz processor with 6 cores, 12 Gb of RAM, 120Gb of free hd space, .NET 4.8.  I restarted after the install, but it didn't help.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi,

1. For a new installation the CLEAN UNINSTALL tool must be used.

2. If possible share your file.

File > export > save as f3d on local device  > attach it to the next post.

The clean uninstall and reinstall seems to have done the trick. The application is very responsive now.

Thank you!

Unfortunately, Fusion 360 crashed again.  It just took longer this time.  The error in the dmpuserinfo.xml is "Error accessing UPI repository in the 64-bits registry"

Hello @Anonymous ,

Can you answer few of the queries :

  • Is the crash consistent?
  • After how much time the crash occurs again?

Regards,

Md Adam Ali.

It crashes consistently after about 5-10 actions.  It doesn't seem to be time related.  At first, it crashed after creating a rectangle and adding dimensions.  After the clean uninstall and reinstall, I created a rectangle and added dimensions and played around a bit.  I left it for an hour or two and came back to continue.  Went to add a second rectangle or panned to the side (can't remember) and it crashed again.  That's when I started digging into the error files.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Requesting to send complete log files?

Help -> Support & Diagnostics ->Diagnostics log files. This will generate a zip file that you can upload. The one attached does not give all the information that will help.

Do you receive any crash error reports that then generates a crash report ID? If so can you pass on one of the IDs?

Hi @Anonymous ,

From the attached dmpuserinfo.xml file i can see you are using NVIDIA QUADRO NVS 295 Graphics card.
We have noticed these type of crashes happens with very old GPUs.

Today we don't have a solution to fix this, but you can continue to work by switching the Graphics Driver to DirectX9.

Goto Preferences>General, and change the Graphics Driver to DirectX9

I made the change you suggested.  So far, so good.  I've poked and prodded more that before without a crash.

Thank you.
