Fusion 360 crashes on startup on Windows 10

Hi there,

Since last week I am unable to launch Fusion 360 on my desktop computer as it crashes seconds after it launches.

The program presents the usual Error Report window but if I move it out of the screen I can use Fusion 360 no problems in all its features (at least the ones I am using?).
Though, if I submit the error report the program closes.

The desktop computer runs a RTX 2070 super.

I suspect this is happening since I terminated the session on this computer remotely.

I did try use Fusion 360 on my laptop (with a RTX 2060 super) and it works fine.

I have also tried formatting the desktop computer and only installing the drivers and Fusion

Fun thing is, at first restart after the format, it prompted I had a session running since last week on a computer named like the desktop was named before the format.
I chose to terminate the session and the Error Report window presented again, same behaviour as I can move it to the side and continue using fusion.

Attached logs and screenshot of the error, is there a way maybe with which I can terminate all sessions and try again?

PS: drivers and windows updates are the latest

I can conferm this being an account problem as the application doesn't crash when I log into with a newly created account.

@Anonymous Is the account that you crash a personal entitlement or a commercial or student entitlement etc? Are you seeing a 10 documentation limit as part of your account?

Hey @RajkumarIlanchelian , the account that crashes is a Personal account and I haven't been flagged anything about the 10 documents limit.
As per OP, the only warning I had on first startup after the format was about a session already running that I tried to terminate.

No warning or crashes on the laptop though..

@RajkumarIlanchelianI don't know if you resetted my account or what but I tried logging in back in my original account and now the issue seems to be fixed - thanks!

@Anonymous I did not do anything from our end but glad you are back to using Fusion 360. Still a little bit concerned what caused the experience for you in the first place. If you do see it happen again, please do reach out.

If anyone is facing this:

  • Disconnect your computer from the internet.
  • Start Fusion
  • Make all documents Read Only
  • Shut Fusion
  • Connect computer to the internet
  • Start Fusion

The bug can be reproduced again if you move editable files using Fusion Team web portal. Until we can release a fix, please avoid moving files using Fusion Team.

Thanks,

Thank you!

I moved some editable documents to help organize some things I've been working on.  I'm just a Personal account, so I'm pretty sure Fusion Team isn't related to this.

That said, your fix has got Fusion 360 working again so thank you @Phil.E !

Unless you have a very old personal account, you have a team. All users are given team accounts, for a few years now.

The term Fusion Team means "the online web portal that helps you manage your designs". Did you use that to move designs around?

@Phil.Ethanks for posting the solution, hope that helps other users as well.

I haven't used the online portal to move stuff around but I did organize my documents using the Fusion 360 interface.

When I created the second account, I did move stuff around using the web interface instead (to try moving the files to the newly created acct) and that might be what unlocked and fixed my og account there after.

Only thing's still unclear to me is why I could access and use Fusion 360 from my other computer at the same time I was experiencing this on my main PC.

I did all of my file management inside of the Fusion 360 client.

I have a new 3D printer and have been trying to design improvements for it.  I have also been working on various organization things.

I created two new folders and moved from the current default save location into those folders from inside the client.  After I shut down Fusion 360 to reboot for an unrelated issue, I found I was unable to get back into Fusion 360.  Your workaround resolved the issue completely.
