Hello I am trying to develop a cogwheel with 3000 notches, but once I click on ok and the program crashes 😢
I've been trying for several days, but still the same thing
do you have an idea ???
Thank you

Does Fusion actually crash (do you get a crash dialog)?  My guess is that, if you are doing 3000 of anything, you are using a Pattern, and a pattern with a lot of instances can take a LONG time to compute (depending on what kind of pattern you are making - do not create a sketch pattern for this).  If you let it run, my guess is that it will complete successfully.  There may also be ways to make this faster (if you are doing feature patterns, don't use "Adjust" unless you have to).  So, if you share the design, and an idea of what kind of pattern you need, we can take a look.

I did not realize that you were using the Spur Gear generator for this.  I don't know a lot about that add-in, but it was definitely not intended to be used for that many teeth.  My guess is that it would eventually finish, but I have no idea how long it will take.  Fusion did not crash when I tried this, but I let it run for 1/2 hour or so before I needed to stop it.

At home, it also took 1/2 hour, but it closed by itself without asking my opinion 😡
otherwise, how do you go about making gears ??? 😀
Thank you

I modified the script a bit to use "Identical" instead of "Adjust" as the pattern type for the gear.  That helped.  But, still, it took 22 minutes to generate on a fairly powerful desktop computer.  I also question whether this is really useful - that is a lot of very tiny teeth on a very big gear.  The file itself is too large to attach here (83MB).  Even just opening this design takes several minutes, and I'm afraid performance would be pretty bad with any design that contained this.  But, if you want to take a look, the link is:  https://a360.co/2OXFq6s

Hello

thank you on the other hand, can you make me one with 6000 mm in diameter and with 3000 notches and not 6001 E 14 diameter ????
At home fusion always crashes when I try to make a wheel with so many notches 😰
on the other hand, when I make a wheel with 1000 notches, it works but two thousand it no longer works
I insist on this wheel, because I am making an amateur telescope and 1000 notches, it is not precise enough
so thank you again 🙏

sorry, I really cannot spend the time to generate these gears for you.  However, you can make the same change I made to the SpurGear script, and you can make them yourself.  If you go to the Addins dialog, select Spur Gear (make sure it is the Python version, not the C++ version), and choose Edit, it will allow you to edit the script.

it will take you to a text editor to change the script.  At this point in the script:

If you insert the highlighted line:  "patternInput.patternComputeOption = adsk.fusion.PatternComputeOptions.IdenticalPatternCompute", it will choose a more optimized pattern feature for patterning the gears.

Remember, this will still take a long time to compute (plan 1/2 hour or even more, depending on your computer), but it will eventually finish.  Fusion is NOT crashing here, just taking a long time to compute

Can you explain in what kind of device you are going to use a gear with 3000 or 6000 teeth and/or a gear with 6m in diameter ?

how are you going to manufacture that gear ?

I don't need a 6-meter gear but 600 mm,
it's true that I also just noticed that I made a mistake,
but thank you for the remark 😀
I will have to redo my plans 🤔
