Fusion 360, body/component export to STP fails

Hello,

I do the following:

1) Import a huge STP file which translates into 3500 bodies.

2) I combine, clean, modify the design until I have only one body as intented

3) When I export the Body back to STP and reopen it (as a new design) I have again roughy 250 bodies.

Because I was able to make one body I would assume it should be possible to export it as one item/part into STP. That seems not be the case so what is the logic in Fusion how an object is divided in different parts?

Exporting item as a component did not make any difference.

can you share the version of the Fusion design where you have consolidated everything into one body?  That would help us diagnose the problem.  Thanks.

Personally I would love to share it but unfortunately there is a NDA which doesn't allow me to do it. Sorry.

Can you elaborate roughly whether the issue is in exporting or importing side? Knowing that STP is an ASCII file is there something I could look into?

Can you make up a simple dummy file that exhibits the same behavior as you proprietary data?

Managed to get some details. Attached is two screenshots from section analysis. In other (exported.png) shows the situation before export, the other (imported.png) is after reimporting the stp.file.  The difference is that in before export there is cylinderic item inside one body (the one whole body). When imported this cyliderical item is considered (and converted) to be a solid body of its own. This is not correct.

This cyliderical object is an object in browser which visibility can be turned on/off.
