Freeze when using Renumber tool

This happens to me more often then it should and there's nothing I have been able to do to prevent it.

When in a drawing that is using the numbering tool to call out materials - sometimes when attempting to use the "Renumber" tool, Fusion gets lost and loses the ability to do anything. It's not crashing. I don't get a crash report window. As far as I can tell the program is still running but it no longer keeps focus - meaning I can't click anything. Sometimes this happens after entering a new number and sometimes it happens as I am entering the number but if it ever happens it's always while using the renumber tool.

I would estimate that this happens to me at least once while I am using this tool in a drawing. I have to force close Fusion and relaunch.

Hi @brandon.jacobsen

Is this a particular drawing that is giving you this issue? Would you be able to share it here as an example?

Cheers,

Karina

It is not related to any particular drawing. It happens on any drawing whether new or old. It very much seems like an issue with the Fusion UI itself.

This is also something I have seen while working from home on a completely different PC so it's not a PC issue. It seems to be easily re-created (although somewhat unpredictable). If you want to try recreating it on your side make a simple multi-part file and start messing with the numbering and renumbering. It should happen eventually.

Hmm, I did a bit of testing yesterday and didn't see any issues, but I can give it a go with a more complex part. Any more specific info that you have is helpful, pinning down general issues like this is quite tricky.

Cheers,

Karina

I am still not seeing any issues with renumber. Can you share a sample file that's giving you the issue?

Hi @brandon.jacobsen

As @karina.harper says, please can share an F3Z of an affected drawing for us to have a look at? You can attach the F3Z file here, or if it is sensitive, feel free to send it directly to me Clint. Brown {a} Autodesk.com

One we have a dataset where we can replicate the issue, I can ask the development team to look into it.

Hey guys,

Sorry I was really busy yesterday. I am attempting to recreate the issue now in the drawing I was working in but of course it's not doing it to me now. I am going to send Clint the drawing file so you guys can mess with it. It is the drawing I was working in yesterday when it happened.

Same thing for me.  It happens randomly on a new drawing or old one.  Same behavior, no crash report, but I have to force close Fusion.

Very frustrating.

It is when I'm changing the number in the renumber box, then I move my mouse to the desired number and nothing happen, simply crash.

I renumber very often, so I know how this work.  I didn't find a way to anticipate this behavior, but reading someone else with the same problem was a relief.

Hi @lwalshML2J3

I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble. If you could share a link to the drawing, I could ask the team to take a look at this for you. We have had some sporadic reports of this behaviour in the past, but without a dataset to validate the problem, we can't fix it, your drawing could change all that!

You can share a link to the drawing file here, or if it is sensitive, feel free to send it directly to me Clint. Brown {a} Autodesk.com.

Wow glad I'm not the only one! It's been a while since I've had this issue but that's really because I haven't been working on drawings much lately. However a new bug has crept up that almost seems related to the renumbering bug. Fusion still has this "need" to be on top and with some new update Fusion received it's rather annoying now. If I have any window on top of Fusion and mouse over to that window, if the mouse passes over any part of the Fusion window before reaching my desired window (like email), Fusion instantly takes over and brings itself to the front.

I only say this seems related to the renumbering issue because what appears to be happening with the renumbering issue is that some message pops up during this sequence and Fusion tries to be "on top" of anything else, hiding the message behind the Fusion window. And since the message takes priority over clicking, you can't do anything. Something really needs to be looked at here by the engineers over at Autodesk.
