Formula problems (newbie beginner)

Having problems with completing design. I posted comments and snapshot but comments disappeared after posting and I don't know where it went so I'll recreate here with copy of file.

I completed design using parameter table to insert values to create dynamic model but at last point advanced parameters no longer work and instead dimensions become point the xz cursor has landed at the moment. I have attempted to delete and start over multiple times with same result at the same point, and have had the same problem starting over with a new design.

This app is making me feel a lot dumber.

@cthkah - can you post a little more about the problems you are experiencing?  I'm not sure I understand:  "but at last point advanced parameters no longer work and instead dimensions become point the xz cursor has landed at the moment".  Thanks for sharing the model.  I was able to load the model and modify the user parameters, and it all seemed to work OK, so maybe a screencast of what you are doing that is not working would help.

Here's the screencast. I couldn't get the audio working on playback. Can. you help with this?

The problem with the model is it won't accept the parameters when I go to the last step to add the. bottom to the house, as you can see at the end of the screencast.

Thanks.

You attached a static screen capture, not a Screencast.

For more clarity, I'm using parameter "Width" for longer dimension and "Thickness-2*Width" for shorter dimension for the bottom. It-s not taking the latter expression.

Yes I suspected. I am having problems posting the private screencast. Thanks.

Do I have to make it public? Not sure how to do that (or how I made it private!) Should I re-record?

If you are talking about adding parametric dimensions to the floor sketch, take a look at the Screencast.  Model is also attached.  In your second formula, you are missing your mathematical operators.

Always select Anyone and you will not have any issues with the forum users seeing your Screencast.

THANK YOU!!! I was leaving out the parentheses. Kevin Kennedy didn’t seem to use them in his tutorial. Would you kindly answer the following additional questions?

1. I am not getting audio in the screencast playback. Is that a recording setting I’ve go wrong?

2. When I tried to post the screencast it gave me an error message (wrong HTML I think) and when I tried to repost it converted to to a screenshot. I don’t know how to send the screencast.

To configure your microphone, no matter what type, I use a headset, you can follow the two screen captures.  On the other subject you may want to watch a video I created on how to create and POST a Screencast using embed HTML.  If you only want to see the how to embed part, you an skip to the end.  The video is on my Dropbox site and you can view it using this link, no password is required.
