Filling in a mesh to make a solid object

I've received the below .stl files from my orthodontist. I thought it would be cool to print a model of my upper and lower jaw. Unfortunately, before I can 3D print the models, the .stl files require some "clean up" before hand. I'd like to fill them in to and create a solid, flat base to rest on.
I attempted to follow the workflow provided in this video (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/how-to-fill-in-mesh-to-make-solid-object/t...). I first had to reduce the facet count, position it correctly, then convert to a brep. However, after creating my projection and extruding it upwards to intersect with the original surface, I am unable to "trim" away the extra parts of the extrusion. Ideally, the original surface would be completely filled in (not hollow) and the object would have a flat surface to reset on top of.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
