Filename issue

Fusion 360 is unable to open files that have accented characters (for example: "í", "ã", "ç", etc).

When attempting to open a file saved with any of those chars all I get is "Failed to download file. An error occurred".

This only happens (as far as I can see) when:

- Opening from the left file browser.

- Opening from the online browser based fusion drive and making it "Open in desktop".

It works when opening from my computer.

This is on a Mac.

In the above scenarios where it fails, renaming the file by removing / replacing any accented char is all it takes for it to work.

@EKMS Thank you for using Fusion360. I tried to reproduce the issue but was not able to. Is it possible to make a video and share it, for analysis? Also, can you specify the Mac and Fusion 360 versions you are using?

For many years I have been following the recommendation not to use special characters when naming accounts, folders and files.

Hello Rushikesh. It's hard to reproduce but you can find a Dropbox link to a video highlighting the issue: Video 

1) I attempt to open a file with accented chars.

2) It fails

3) I rename it and upon opening it again it works.

4) I rename it back and this time it works (with the accented chars) but, for some reason, it takes a whole lot longer to open.

No idea where the bug is but this may be confusing to some because it looks as the fail is corrupted, even older versions won't open.

That's true but since 8.3 filenames in DOS and especially after the introduction of new filesystems (NTFS, APFS, etc) that's no longer an issue. Keep in mind that these are accented chars and not special ones.

If that was the case nowadays with everyone using a "computer" it would be problematic to say the least.

@EKMS Thank you for the video. Can you specify the Mac version and Fusion360 build number you are on? Also, is it possible to attach the file in which you are observing the issue?

Sorry, forgot to reply to that one:

macOS 11.4

Fusion 2.0.10446

It doesn't matter which file it is. Also, if I download the file (from the web drive interface) and open it it works so it would work for you as well.

The odd thing is that if I create a new one with accented chars it will open it perfectly fine. Probably some older versions that messed up somehow?

Again, all fine by me since I found out how to bypass it by renaming the files but other users may get upset by not being able to open them.

@EKMS oh, an older version part. I will try to check if have any files with these characters in the name. If reproducible will report to the concerned team. Thank you for reporting the case.
