File Conversion Help

Hi there!

I'm new to CAD and the CNC world, so please excuse my lack of knowledge when it comes to this stuff. I'm very much in the learning phase!

I was wondering if there was an easy way to convert something that was created in fusion 360 to an svg file type?

Long story short, I have a file that was designed in fusion 360 and I want to use it in Easel. The file doesn't have any "3D" type cuts and is pretty straight forward. I've done all of the cut pathing and everything for it in fusion, but that software is a bit overwhelming for me at the moment starting out. Is there an easy way to export the image/design down to a 2D SVG file type so that I can use it in Easel?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Well, before we discuss ways of abandoning Fusion in favor of another program, would you be willing to work with us as we help you through some of your issues in Fusion?

Absolutely! I'm not planning on abandoning Fusion, just trying to get my feet wet in a more simple software first, while I learn my new machine. I see the value in such a detailed platform. I have some things that I want to cut which are 3D and will require me to use Fusion(guitar neck profiles, etc.). I've been trying to learn and use Fusion over the past 3-4 months, it's just been very frustrating for me as a beginner to try and learn on it. Easel has been much easier to start on and I've been able to start cutting out some basic things with much fewer user errors.

For context I'm a guitar builder and I've done everything by hand to this point. Now I've taken the leap and bought a Onefinity CNC! I've gotten one of my guitar designs in Fusion 360 ready to go, with the help of a friend, but I'm having trouble with the stock sizing, feeds and speeds, programming bits, etc. There is steeper learning curve for me at the moment and I'm really just wanting to get cutting, if that makes sense. I've been referencing YouTube videos for a lot of the information I need, but some of the things are a bit over my head.

Thanks for the help!

Okay, that makes sense. If you would like, I'd be happy to spend a few minutes putting together a screencast on a Setup, tool selection and a few toolpaths, directly with your part. Share it here, if you would.

File > Export > Save to local folder, return to thread and attach the .f3d file in your reply.

To answer your initial question, you could save sketches of the part as a .dxf, can that be imported into Easel? (I assume it would)
