I basically quit my job and started working every day on a very large project for going on 5 weeks. Yesterday, I worked on a component for roughly 10 straight hours and I was almost done and the software crashed without the prompt to report it to 360... Windows kept trying to close it and I let it set for 6 hours (Not Responding) before force closing. Today more fun started... 1) the origin on one of my components changed all on its own. After I put it back, it went back to the wrong spot. Save, Close and Reopened program and fixed it successfully. 2) I'm basically building a complex manifold with several (maybe 10-12) layers in each Body (right now 4 total). For example, I set it up to extrude sections as such:
- Body 1
- Layer 1, Extruded from Sketch 1, on the Profile Plane, as New Body (Body 1).
- Layer 2, Extruded from Sketch 1, on an Offset Plane, as "Join" to Layer 1.
- Body 2
- Layer 1, Extruded from Sketch 1, on a New Offset Plane, as New Body (Body 2).
- Layer 2, Extruded from Sketch 1, on a New Offset Plane, as "Join" to Layer 1.
- etc.
At this point, everything was fine. I could go back and edit my sketch and the changes were reflected after I edited the extrusion profile planes. When I created Body 3, in the same way listed above, it wouldn't allow me to select the extrusion profile plane from Sketch 1.... or whatever it was giving me grief over, so I created a new sketch for Body 3 and it worked.
After completing Body 3 and joining the layers, I couldn't go back and edit the joined sections of Body 1. It was giving me all kinds of fits, unless I changed it to a new component, so I clicked "undo" until everything I had done was gone and started over; thinking I made so many changes that it was confused. I re-extruded everything and all was well until I needed to make more changes:( Same thing.. I can't go back and edit. For example, I have about 20 circles/shapes in the sketch (all of which are shaded blue indicating they are connected) and when I go to edit the extrusion, I can see what I had previously selected, so I click on or off the shapes until I have what I want and then, pan around to make sure it extruded correctly in the preview and click "ok" to confirm the changes. But, what the preview showed me and what the extrusion selections highlighted and circled in red confirmed; disappear as soon as I confirm. Even if a previously selected shape worked and was not changed or touched in the edit. So, I start over- re-edit... click ok and bam, same thing happens. So I deleted the extrusions and everything except the sketches and started over and it works. Well.... I'm 2 whole days in to this ONE component and the same thing has happened again. I can't edit and if I change anything at all, it makes the whole extrusion one piece, as if I didn't have anything selected at all. (But, if I edit, I can see the selections highlighted and in red!)
In addition, there is a sphere in one of the bodies and it won't go away from the screen! It's highlighted dark blue, not light-blue, like when you click something and move the cursor away from it, indicating it has been selected. I tried isolating, un-isolating, Activating/Deactivating random Components... Save, Close, Reopen software and it's fixed. There has been other weird things happening over the past couple days and restarting the software is the only fix.
This all started last week when I edited a sketch from one of the first components I made a few weeks ago and I noticed that it didn't transfer to the duplicate components that I had previously "copy/pasted" (not paste-new), like it had always done in the past. It was very strange because some of the copies, that were completed a couple weeks ago and unused/unopened/unviewed a couple weeks ago, decided to vanish and others moved themselves. There were a couple of plains I had to correct and a few other errors that weren't there a couple weeks ago when I completed them. I deleted the "copied" duplicates, since they really don't matter right now, and started the new component that I'm having all this trouble with now.
I searched and saw the critics, so I will admit it... Yes, this project is the first time I've used 360. I was a YouTube, tutorial and self learner who basically jumped into the deep end of the pool (as someone put it lol). However, I didn't have these types of problems for the first 4 weeks and I haven't done anything extraordinary, so I'm wondering if it would be recommended to somehow copy components to a a new doc. Or, what someone's recommendation would be, since I feel like there are some software issues going on all of a sudden? My fear is that I will have something major happen or I will transfer the issues to the new doc.
I just thought that I am working from a previously auto-saved document from a crash... I don't recall what happened but I saved it as "crazy merge." So, I'm thinking that must have been when all this started. Not sure but should I start building new components from a new doc and leave them separate for now and combine components later? I'd like to buy the software for unlimited docs but I'm not sure if this is the best option with all these issues. It's fairly easy to use but the "crazy" stuff is similar to Word 1995 edition lol and they cleaned up their act years ago!
Thank you so much for your time and advise:)
And, if it's not too much trouble, the following are just annoyances but is there a way to force the browser to stay scrolled all the way at the bottom, since that's literally where I'm working!... I swear I have to scroll down 100 times a day! And why is it always changing the screen view on me lol annoying! And not letting me click where I want to since it wants to snap to !anywhere! and I mean !anywhere! other than a sketch "outside the Activated component" or basically where I want it to snap lol! And is there a way to turn off the automatic constraints? Good Lord they certainly put a lot of time assuming what I want to happen!
