Extruding ® symbol

There is a glitch in the my attempts of extruding the "registered trademark" symbol (alt+0174) onto the surface of an object.  It does not matter what font is used or its size.

Is there a work around?

There is nothing I could find on the users forum.

Edit the sketch, right click the text and select explode text to convert to curves. Also please don't attach pictures, just paste it into the message.
