Extrude warnings

Hi all,

I get several pretty strange extrude warnings in Fusion 360:

Warning: Extrude6
1 Reference Failures

General modeling error.
1 Reference Failures

Some profiles failed to create tool bodies

It only happens when selecting "Two sides" as the direction.

If I select "One side" or "Symmetric" I get none of the warnings.

Result:

While the shape of the profiles are extruded correctly, the depth of the extrusion differs within some parts of the same(!) selection and same(!) extrusion (see attached screenshot).extrusion warning (screenshot).png

As said before... this is pretty strange and I never experienced something similar before.

Have you also had this?

we'd have to see the model itself to say for sure.  Can you share it here?

Hi Jeff,

unfortunately, I can't since it's confidential.

But I can share it with you via PM if possible.

Would that be ok?

Kind regards

Eric

Thanks for the model, @InDezign - since this design is proprietary, I won't post the screencast here, I'll respond via PM.  Technically, this is a bug, and I will submit it, but there is a better way to get the results that I think you are after, not using two-distance.  I suspect the underlying problem here is the areas of tangency in your profile, one of which I've added to your image with the green arrow.  These kind of geometries can cause model failures, because they create a non-manifold body.

Many thanks, Jeff!
I'll keep an eye on these areas and will continue by using only one direction and then moving the resulting body. ‌‌

Kind regards,
Eric
